So, I've heard of 8 of the celebrities but some of those I've literally just heard the names - don't know what they actually do.

Given my interests though, it's unlikely I would be able to identify a reality "celebrity" (I mean the Love Island type shows) a blogger/vlogger/influencer or most sports people.

Anyone know all of them?

That was a great show. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I’m looking forward to watching every week. I thought when Amber and Nikita danced so beautifully we were looking at the winners. Then Karen and Carlos burned up the dance floor. It’s going to be a close competition.

Karen was so authentic, loved her!

Casdon Sat 27-Sept-25 21:36:11

Great show. I hope Ellie was okay, I saw some of the dancers talking to her, then she wasn’t there the next time the shot panned to them all standing at the top of the stairs.

kittylester Sat 27-Sept-25 21:45:00

I spotted that, casdon, but she was there at the end.

Millie22 Sat 27-Sept-25 21:48:41

Really good first week.

Loved it especially George and Amber.

Casdon Sat 27-Sept-25 21:51:30

That’s good to hear kittylester.

Let's hope it was just a comfort break.

eazybee Sat 27-Sept-25 22:17:40

And the dancing was good too.

Charleygirl5 Sat 27-Sept-25 22:38:31

The only person I have heard of is Ross King, and I do not think he will be there after next week.

Like last year and others, it will be shown over two nights, with the result known by many. I think next year there should be fewer players, and the entire programme should be aired on Saturday night.

Great show. I hope Ellie was okay, I saw some of the dancers talking to her, then she wasn’t there the next time the shot panned to them all standing at the top of the stairs.

She was clearly very anxious.
I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see her staying the course.
I’m very aware of all that she’s done but ( imo) strickly will be too much.

I admire her for trying but it did look a bit like Vito was leading a child around.

I hope she can cope with all the attention.

That’s exactly what I thought too…

I didn't see the first show and tried to watch the second last night .
I used to love watching it and my friends and I would message each other with our opinions .
It was my Saturday night treat if not going out .
Now I'm not entertained by it .
I only knew two of the celebrities .
I think that it makes a difference if you've seen them before .
I ended up watching the programme about sinkholes !

sundowngirl Sun 28-Sept-25 13:26:31

I thought Karen Carney was brilliant especially for a sports person who is a non dancer. Topping the leader board too.

I was disappointed to see Amber taking the place of Dani Dyer. Amber is yet another trained dancer, theatre school graduate and a musical theatre actress. Even on Love Island you described herself as a 'dancer' It doesn't make it for fair competition

Grannynannywanny Sun 28-Sept-25 13:54:58

It seems to be acceptable every year that there will be dancers with previous professional experience. We’ve got at least 2 this year. Lewis Cope starred in Billy Elliot.

He burst onto the stage and danced like a professional last night. I did enjoy his dance but I think he’s already on the wrong side of Shirley who advised him to pay more attention to Katya’s tuition. He’s bursting with confidence and maybe too good. Hopefully he might have calmed down by next weekend.

Sorry to be a killjoy but as much as I love dance I no longer love strictly. Too much hype, too much ego massaging….cant be doing with it.

NotSpaghetti Sun 28-Sept-25 16:03:50

I think Ellie was OK until others got many more points.
I think she may find not winning to be difficult - and truly hope she had great support outside of the show.
🤞

I thought the same.

Sparklefizz Sun 28-Sept-25 16:10:01

How would she cope in a dance-off, for example?

Grannynannywanny Sun 28-Sept-25 16:12:11

I commented to my daughter several minutes before Ellie briefly disappeared that she was beginning to look very tired. She maybe didn’t quite have the stamina for what would have been a very long day leading up to the evening show.

I love her enthusiasm and she’s a joy to watch. Hopefully it won’t be too much physically and emotionally for her as the weeks progress.

Judy54 Sun 28-Sept-25 16:27:00

I love La Voix. When you see him as himself (Chris) in training he comes across as quiet and fairly timid but my goodness when he takes on the persona of La Voix he becomes a different person, confidant and witty. Reminds me of Paul O'Grady's Lily Savage but more sophisticated and yes I enjoyed his dance.

silverlining48 Sun 28-Sept-25 17:25:58

I watched this years Strctly for first time last night and didn’t know who any of them were.
In older times we all knew who were ‘stars’ but seems these days ( oh I sound so old) that anyone who has been on tv once or twice becomes a ‘celeb’.
I saw Ellie and felt some concern she may not cope with the sometimes harsh exposure, but will have to google to find out about her and once I know the other names might take a look about them too.

annodomini Sun 28-Sept-25 18:39:04

I lost count of the number of Cha-cha-chas last night but think it was at least four. It's not as if it's a specially easy dance for beginners - but why? I was intrigued when we met Voix in his training session when he proved to be an ordinary youngish man. Then he/she emerged in full drag with a complete change of personality.

Geordiegirl1 Sun 28-Sept-25 19:28:29

I hope everyone who commented has had the opportunity to eat their words as it’s the best bunch for years! I stopped watching about four years ago but was prompted to do so again by my daughter who said the standard was already very high - and it is!

BlueBelle Sun 28-Sept-25 19:53:17

I don’t watch or like Strictly can’t stand all the razzamatazz and OTT stuff but decided to watch as I m rather partial to the Emmerdale chappy Lewis Cope but I only managed about half the first show couldn’t tolerate all the fake loving and audience shrieking
Why do they have to have a token disabled person I think it’s so disrespectful it’s like ‘ if you’ve got one leg or are deaf /blind or got downs we need you’ Nothing wrong with one year if they apply and are good but to always make a point of needing someone ‘different’ is not on in my eyes good practice
