The Guest on BBC1 and iPlayer

Gave up pretty early on.
Far too much good stuff to watch instead of wasting time on something that in the hope it will get better.

I’m useless at understanding plots anyway but this one really flummoxed me. I did find myself losing interest but stuck either way it. Glad it was only four episodes.

It started off really well, but half way through Episode 4 (yes, I binge watched it!) it suddenly got very boring. In fact I fell asleep and it was only lunchtime!
Why did they have to drag it out?
Someone mentioned the Welsh scenery. I didn’t see much at all! Most of the action was indoors.

I’ve watched this too. Not totally dissimilar to dramas on Ch 5 which I invariably give up on after the first ep (or I read an appalling review first). This has a reasonably cohesive storyline. It is of course, rather overblown but for some reason I’m quite enjoying because it’s not that predictable. Watched 3/4 so far.

Binged watched and really enjoyed it though Clawdy, I did think she told the guy it was her parents house.

I was absolutely enthralled.
It was grisly, gory in parts and very engaging.

Not a pleasant storyline. But hey. Life is not all sugary and sweet.
I binge watched second episode but will wait for episode three when next on.

I recorded ep. 1 to watch later, but when I did I was totally unenthralled and deleted it before the end came. Perhaps I should have sat it out, judging by the responses on here. Still, i-player isn't going anywhere...

Agreed. Enjoyable but far fetched and I thought the actress who plays the maid was the "star of the show" more so than Eve Myles. Very much a two hander so far.

I’ve only seen the first episode. The situation reminded me strongly of a couple of books (thrillers) by Freida McFadden - though these are set in the USA. Enjoyable but far-fetched!!

I feel exactly the same as you! I am sure I’ll not be able to resist watching the rest of it on IPlayer or wherever, even though I shouldn’t really. However, I do wish they would put ALL these dramas on consecutive nights, not just some of them.
I always watch anything Eve Miles is in. Don’t know why as she isn’t an exceptional actress, but good, nevertheless. Maybe it’s because I’m Welsh. Anyway, to sum up, I am enjoying it, for whatever reason. It’s an easy watch and not everything has to be Oscar standard to be good!

Why do I keep watching these stupid dramas? It was quite engaging at first but gradually became more and more silly. I agree the acting was good and they managed well with a ridiculous plot.

We've agreed more one for me than himself so I'll be watching alone....

Well, I decided to binge the rest of the series, when I realised I would be away and miss next week's episode.
I would say it's worth sticking with it. It's a good thriller, even if it is a tad implausible! It's well acted and the Welsh scenery is a bonus.

Yes, I think that’s the consensus of reviewers - mad, but watchable! Apparently the final ending is worth the wait!

The last bit was so improbable, it spoiled it for me. Why on earth would she pretend it was her house, it all became a bit ridiculous.

Cannot decide if it's going to be good or not. Slow start and then a big finish.

I didn’t really enjoy the first episode. Found it rather far fetched and didn’t empathise with either of the women. DH on the other hand liked it.I hope to get more involved next episode.
