I enjoyed the Bohemian Rhapsody! Purists might not approve but it transcends pop music.

Love Brian May ๐Ÿ’“

I adored Queenโ€™s original performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. Added to which, the time it was at its peak was a very good period of my life, so when it was played, it brought back happy memories.
Consequently I wasnโ€™t impressed when I heard there was a new version going to be played tonight at the proms and made up my mind that it wouldnโ€™t be half as good as the original. You canโ€™t improve on perfection, right?
Wrong! I absolutely loved it. Brian May was superb and I even liked the singers. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I like to think that Freddie would approve. An excellent performance. Well done!

The young conductor, Elim Chan is great. She's only 38. I remember her from last year.

Oh, Danny Boy ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Just enjoying the brilliant National Youth Orchestra, conducted by Dalia Stasevska, playing classics and film themes relating to the Stars and Planets.

Are some of today's film themes tomorrow's classics?

i've recorded this, looking forward to watching it. Yes, I think some film scores are classics and classical - thinking of John Williams in particular but many others. After all, what we think of "classical" today was the pop music of its day.

Each to their own.

I do enjoy classical music too! It's not exclusive to an elite few.

What a talented group of young people. There were 160 top class musicians involved.

I found the song at the end very moving.

Iโ€™m also enjoying this but I find it hard to regard film themes as classical music. Today or tomorrow.

hmm
I think some of John Williams's scores are up there with some of the classics.

Fabulous ๐ŸŽถ that was so good.

lixy Sat 06-Sept-25 21:00:57

Looking forward to this concert on BBC4 tonight.

A few years ago we went to a concert of John Williams movie music at Birmingham Symphony Hall. It was so much fun, remembering some classic movies. There were even some Stormtroopers walking around the Hall!

Thank you MollyNew. I had no idea about this but, thanks to you, have been able to record it. Hope you enjoy it too!

I am looking forward to it especially the Bernard Herrmann and Erich Wolfgang Korngold pieces.
