Twiggy

I still wear a pair of Twiggy M&S black suede ankle boots and I haven't found any suitable replacements for when they finally wear out. She is such a talented woman and I really admire her.

She is clearly so much more than just a pretty face.

Before she was famous Twiggy worked in a hairdressers in Bayswater and washed one of my teacher’s hair.

she used to model for M&S a few years ago, and she was still a lovely woman then...I must watch this..

What a hard worker Twiggy has always been!

Yes, I wasn't that interested at first but really enjoyed finding out about so much of her life I didn't know.

You get the sense that at every turn so much could have gone wrong for this very young woman but yet her working-class background and common sense seems to have stood her in good stead, as well as her complete willingness to just go along for the ride and have fun!

It made me feel a little sorry for young women today and quite nostalgic for the days when someone like her could make a real and genuine success of her life whilst remaining so grounded and real.

I fear there is no one quite like her anymore and possibly never will be...

Watched it now, what a lovely girl she was in many ways.The interview with the horrible Woody Allen was so typical of that weasley man.She turned the tables on him tho didn’t she? Asking him who his favourite philosopher was and he couldn’t say!😂 Go girl!

I'll have to watch it she came in on that tremendous wave of talent from our shores that put little old England at the epicentre of sixties culture. Justin de Villeneuve, what a great pseudonym!, I used to think that was his real name, until I found out he was a Nige. Years later I thought the same about Leonardo DiCaprio's moniker, just too wonderful to be true, how it rolls off the tongue, but lucky old him, his is the real thing. Someone in Hollywood suggested he change it to Lenny White, what were they thinking of

Loved Leigh Lawson - a quick Google reveals he is almost exactly the same age as DH and lived where he first worked. Bet he was a patient. See we are nearly related.

We watched it, even DH enjoyed it.

She epitomised the 60s although those of us who weren't Twiggy-like were a bit envious of her figure. Bosoms weren't in!

She is so versatile and comes across as grounded, despite all her fame. Her family gave her the stability to come through adversity - but how trusting they were of Justin de Villeneuve (Nigel Davies).

She and Leigh Lawson have been together for a long time and seem to have built a stable, happy family life together with their children.

I remember Leigh Lawson as we lived nearby years ago, before he met Twiggy. He was on TV a lot in those days. A lovely man.

I saw part of it but intend to watch it properly. I remember when she started acting and how impressed I was with her. We used to watch all of Ken Russell’s films back then. I think she took everybody by surprise. I didn’t realise she’d lost her husband.

Great programme.

I haven't watched it, as I have no TV by choice, but she still looks absolutely gorgeous for a 75-year-old, with no apparent signs of surgery, etc.

Others have had surgery, Botox, whatever to try to look years younger, but most have turned out hideous and looking years older; but Twiggy hasn't had anything done and looks gorgeous, natural, and a lot younger!

Woody Allen was a dirty, creepy old man who was probably trying to get into her knickers!

And oh the nostalgia! She handled horrible Woody Allen so well.

Good programme- very interesting. She was very talented and seems to be a lovely person too

It was a great watch and full of memories. She deserved her success and happiness with Leigh Lawson.

I see her at 16 (and onwards) the result of solid parenting,
giving her confidence, good humour, strong work ethic (my
goodness didn’t she) and a chameleon like ability to happily
engage across the perceived social strata.

I remembered the Woody Allen interview, her riposte a verbal smack.

Biba, Chelsea Drugstore, long crinkled hair, glory days.

I watched it and agree it was a lovely reminiscence and yes, she’s worn well without going down the surgical road!

I remember Parky saying that a cameraman reckoned she was one of the few guests who didn’t have a ‘bad’ side!

I thought it was excellent, and recommended to almost everyone I knew who was a teenager in 60s!

Took me back to sitting at my dressing table painting on the lashes under the eye and the copious use of Rimmel or Miners eyeliner

A perfect example of someone grabbing an opportunity by the whatnots and running with it as fast as they can. Worked hard, reaped the benefits and still looks great.

And she wears her years well, a great ambassador for older women.

What a lovely documentary she certainly made the most of her opportunities she was stunning as a teen and still has it. I only wish I looked half as good as we are similar age 😂
