I just watched the last in the series and I'm also a bit in love with Freddie. It also made me feel happy. Not many programmes do that these days!

I can remember years ago there were always youth clubs. And I spoke to someone recently who used to be involved with boxing clubs for young people in the East End and, whatever we think of boxing they did really help youngsters. There doesn’t seem to be anything like that these days.
Yes, I went to a youth club and so did my DC but there is nothing like that now for those of my DGC's age, not that I know of anyway.
I love Presley. He’s adorable 🥰
Don’t get me started on facilities for youngsters.
Put the cost to the country caused by bored disruptive youngsters against the cost/ managing youth centres.
It’s a no brainier. 🤷♀️
Very few programmes grip my heart, all of these have, bravo Freddie.
Freddie Flintoff, I love you. Thank you.
Presley is a little star. Eli from the first series seems to be doing well, coaching this year's teams. I hope there will be another series.
I like Presley, who is trying so hard for people to get involved in the cricket club/
I watched the third episode this afternoon and again was very moved especially by the story of Madi who had been in care since she was 11. We really don't do a very good job looking after these vulnerable children.
What a heartwarming follow up to the previous 2 series.Freddie and his coaches Kyle and Rachel really brought out the best in those kids and I hope his teams go forward and grow.

This is an entertaining programme which also raises some important issues about deprivation, teamwork and breaking down barriers. Freddie's kindness and determination is to be commended.

This is a heartening series and boy do we need it! However, it really saddens me to see how little is being offered to the young people in so many of our most deprived areas. Seeing the Preston team two years later IMO proved the value of working with youngsters and I have to admit I've felt really quite emotional at times during this series and also the previous two. Freddie is so good with these young people and they can be very testing but he seems able to build a rapport whilst building respect which is a rare talent.
The Mancunians are really struggling in this series. The cricket club has been abandoned for years and he can't get a team together, although the 16 year old with personal issues is trying hard to help Freddie make up the numbers.
The Liverpool lads playing the police was really interesting as they all hated the police before and once they met them had a much better opinion of the police.

Ahh - I thought you meant the programme that the thread is about - Field of Dreams - not actual cricket matches!
They have limited overs cricket but stopped having test matches on terrestrial tv years ago. I must admit to not being a fan of cricket but do remember years ago being totally absorbed by one test match. I had to go back into work that afternoon and even though radios weren’t allowed because we didn’t have a licence for it I took a radio in with me ( I was working alone though and we weren’t open to the public). Cycling is going to miss out big time now that it isn’t going to be shown on Ch4.

I think it lost it’s appeal when it stopped being on terrestrial tv and ended up on sports channels that you had to pay for
.
When did that happen. I’m watching it on the BBC.
8.15 tonight.

He's great with these kids. This of course is the follow on series from the one about the Preston team who he took to India.
I was pleased to see him working with a ladies team. We played cricket at school and I absolutely loathed it. It was far more common for girls to be playing back in the "olden" days!

Anyone watching this series where Freddie is trying to get kids to play cricket in areas where the sport is rarely played like Liverpool and Manchester? It's good how Freddie gets together a team of scouse lads who've never played cricket in their livess to make up a team, and how he is trying to save a cricket club that has been abandoned in Manchester. Also there's a girl's team in Blackpool who are showing the most promise.
I played cricket at school in the eighties, but it does seem the sport has died out in many areas and I haven't seen any kids locally playing cricket for years.
