Celebrity Traitors - may the oldies rule!

Celebrity Traitors starts tonight at 8 pm.

I'm looking forward to it, there's some reasonably good brains competing.
At least two of the contestants are pensioners - Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, Marigold Hotel etc) and the erudite Sir Stephen Fry.

Yes - it started last night, and I accidentally switched it on. . I've never watched it before so it was quite unexpected. I do like entertainment which requires brain power, but I really wish that they could have avoided the theme of murder. There must be other plot lines that would work equally well and be less unpleasant.

I feel a bit guilty about saying this- but I really enjoyed seeing Clare Balding being her usual very superior , confident and rather overbearing self, so working independently, then making a a really bad, embarrassing and disastrous mistake when the group was trying to work out the code for opening the gate.

I know what you mean about Clare Balding - reminded me of a school Head Girl.

I was initially very dubious of the whole “Traitors” concept when the first series was shown, but got hooked very quickly. I’ve watched all the non-UK based series as well as the UK ones and thought last night’s start was the best yet out of all of them.
I know or have at least heard of most of the contestants, the exceptions being Cat, Ruth and Niko.
I’ve never been an Alan Carr fan but thought he was hilarious. I’m hoping the lovely Mark Bonnar does well, ditto Celia Imrie and David Olusoga.
Overall, I think it’s a wonderful selection of faces, well kent and otherwise.

I think Claudia would look nice in a paper bag she just has a way of looking good in anything always love her clothes
Rowyn Henetha you don’t see any murders its murder in name only you only know who s been ‘murdered’ when they don’t turn up for breakfast the next day

Gogo84 Thu 09-Oct-25 16:22:16

Hooked already, as with the previous series.

Record or switch straight over to BBC2 if you watch Traitors live.

I’m not sure why some people dislike Stephen Fry - I admire him for his intelligence. At least he’s not as annoyingly camp as Alan Carr! 🤣 Makes me cringe…

I don't mind Stephen Fry at all. I think his manner hides the fact that he is uncomfortable in large gatherings.

From finding Alan rather irritating years ago, he's grown on me over the years. 😁

Why has he decided to go on the show then? Maybe a personal challenge, or the big pay packet?

I like Steven Fry as well. I especially liked his series, Kingdom, which was filmed in Swaffham.

Yes, that was good.

I found it very funny and am looking forward to the next instalment. I think the celebrities are going to be far more normal than usual.

Lol! Yes I've been reading a thread about sleeves.

I don't think Claudia has to worry about doing the washing up grin

Nor does that singer with all those stringy bits hanging off her sleeves!

Sorry don't watch it

kittylester Thu 09-Oct-25 14:12:31

I feel Stephen Fry is very self aware but Alan Carr is just himself.

I’ve been looking forward to Celebrity Traitors - it didn’t disappoint. At least most of them are well-known, not like some of the other shows and it’s for charity.
I’m not a fan of Alan Carr, but it’ll be interesting to see if he can stay under the radar tonight!! 🤣 I always watch Uncloaked afterwards.
The prog clashed with Pub Walks, so I had to record that for another time. 😎

I’m loving the show. Was hoping that Nick Mohammed would be chosen as a traitor. We had a glimpse of how intelligent he is , when he solved the key puzzle at on of the gates.
His persona is that of a confused and unaware man, I can’t wait for his true side to be revealed

Washerwoman Thu 09-Oct-25 13:17:41

First time watching Traitors and mainly checked in for Alan Carr.Another programme I wasn't going to watch were the ones with Amanda Holden renovating houses in Italy and Spain ,but accidentally got into, and I found him hilariously witty in those. Also really like Nivk Mohammed. I'm already hooked.

As an aside, I see quite a few people dislike Stephen Fry. I have never come across this before. May I ask what it is people are so averse to?

My G’ma would say that he’s too clever for his own good.
I try to avoid his programmes, though I think he’s a kind man in real life.

Alan Carr is the polar opposite; he makes fun of himself all the time and is so witty. I hope he does well.

kircubbin2000 Thu 09-Oct-25 12:49:23

I thought the girl was joking when she talked about cutting off her leg!

henetha Thu 09-Oct-25 12:07:45

I hugely enjoyed the whole thing, being a newcomer to Traitors. It was much better than I anticipated and I really like most of the celebs. Alan Carr is just brilliantly funny. I'm not sure how the murders get carried out so I'm really looking forward to this evening. Yay 😁
