Celebrity Traitors - may the oldies rule!

Celebrity Traitors starts tonight at 8 pm.

I'm looking forward to it, there's some reasonably good brains competing.
At least two of the contestants are pensioners - Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, Marigold Hotel etc) and the erudite Sir Stephen Fry.

Also, I loved Claudia's boots and extra long sleeves grin

Great start to the series. Alan Carr is hilarious and much more naturally witty than I thought he would be. I know Jonathan Ross is like Marmite for many people - I've always liked his sense of humour and I think he's genuinely interested in other people. Nick was so interesting when he presented one of the Proms concerts this year so he could be good to watch. Can't wait for this evening's show!

I don't know who some of the younger contestants are but I don't think that any of them are recycled reality show "celebrities". So far, I find Lucy with the wee girly voice annoying but then I always have. I am not sure how this first murder will be achieved but I hope that Alan can pull it off without giving himself away. So far so entertaining.

As an aside, I see quite a few people dislike Stephen Fry. I have never come across this before. May I ask what it is people are so averse to?

I would describe Stephen Fry as a pompous arse grin

I don't usually like Alan Carr but I really warmed to him - hope he doesn't give the game away, or worse still, get confused and attempt to 'murder' someone who has a shield.

Jonathan Ross really slipped up when he was talking with the rugby player in the kitchen...

Great start to the series.

I presumed Cat was a man until Jonathan called them she!

I don't like Stephen Fry because I find him quite arrogant.

Currently, Lucy Beaumont is really irritating me.

I love Alan Carr and I am finding Jonathan Ross more likeable than previously.

I am not a Fry fan either. Probably because he thinks he's more clever than he really is- especially irritating how he took over with the Shakespeare question as if no one else would know, and then the book thing. I find him quite insufferable really...

He is an avowed atheist and then said he was on the side of the angels!

I am open to have my opinion changed, however.

I really enjoyed it last night and I’m looking forward to following each episode. I felt sorry for Clare Balding when she accidentally scuppered the first challenge. She’s now under suspicion as some wrongly think it was deliberate.

Likewise Charlotte Church. She’s under suspicion for willingly giving up her medallion. I usually avoid anything with Alan Carr and wasn’t looking forward to seeing him in one of my favourite programmes. But I found myself enjoying his antics last night.

Why didn't the rugby guy pick up on Jonathan Ross not remembering that he had a shield?

I wondered that, or maybe he didn't think that it was necessarily suspicious?

escaped Thu 09-Oct-25 08:42:01

how people gang up on one or two people
I don't think this will happen here so much because the prize is for charity. If we do see ganging up, it might all be an act.

I love the Traitors! It's part of the fun when some competitors are irritating or not very likeable. I find it fascinating to see how alliances are formed and how people gang up on one or two people.

I'll have to stop watching this thread as I like to store up the episodes to watch over a week or so of so.

What great viewing, I’m absolutely hooked!
Tho tbh I’d watch anything with Mark Bonnar, swoons!!!

Loving it already
Half the crew I d either never heard of or didn’t like so had very little expectations anyway I loved it and even warmed to Alan Carr who I normally can’t stand
I ve watched all the Traitors so far and I’m quite a fan and this was a surprisingly good start
There’s a few I still don’t know but I m sure I ll get to by the end I really like the girl traitor although no idea who she is and I really do like David Olusoga and Paloma Faith but have never liked Jonathan Ross, Stephan Fry, Clare Balding or Alan Carr however so far……

I enjoyed it. Looking forward to tomorrow. I know almost all of them (makes a change from Strictly. 😂)

I'm doing it again, merlot. I loved it

Well, I was waiting for something to happen.

That's tomorrow when the first one is killed!
Unless Alan makes a right mess of his job!

He's doing better than I thought he would, I thought he'd give it away!

Maggiemaybe Wed 08-Oct-25 22:52:30

Not sure of the rules; do the traitors decide who’s going to be 'murdered'? Wouldn't it make sense not to choose Clare Balding or Charlotte Church as some of the faithfuls suspect them of being traitors?

Yes, the traitors decide between them. Though this time the others seem to have delegated responsibility to Alan, and perhaps he won’t think it through as you have. grin

At the end of tomorrow’s episode they’ll have the first daily round table vote, when someone they suspect is a traitor will go.

escaped Wed 08-Oct-25 22:47:34

Exactly Smileless2012, you've picked up on the game quickly! 😆

Smileless2012 Wed 08-Oct-25 22:45:24

Watched this for the first time and rather enjoyed it. I think Alan could make a good traitor as he's less likely to be identified.

I thought it was hilarious! Poor Alan- I don't think he can cope with being a traitor...but he is so funny.

Yes, I enjoyed it too. I had to laugh when Claire got carried away and pulled that lever. Shades of her over-enthusiastic Spitting Image character. grin

I’m hoping Celia doesn’t go out first - like MollyNew I think she could do well.
