Celebrity Traitors - may the oldies rule!

Celebrity Traitors starts tonight at 8 pm.

I'm looking forward to it, there's some reasonably good brains competing.
At least two of the contestants are pensioners - Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, Marigold Hotel etc) and the erudite Sir Stephen Fry.

Allira I was a fan of Tom Daley until this week!
I can't believe how unpleasant he seems. And so "full of himself".

What a pity!

Thought I would watch an episode as it was a celebrity one (my daughter watches the non celebrity one and said it is good.)

Thought it was boring, so won't bother with any more.

I wish the BBC would invest their money in better programming.

I’ve always liked Clare Balding but agree with the poster upthread who said she’s like a Head Girl.
When she took early command of the Trojan Horse task she handed over to Tom like a fellow presenter.
I guess old habits die hard.
David Olusoga has hardly uttered a word.

I loved it - although Alan Carr is a delight, I think that they all have something to offer. I’ve only seen the first one so far, so haven’t read the thread in case it gives anything away.

She has that funny man rumbled though!

Stephen Fry ?

Yes, him. He spoke in very flowery terms about the best detective ever, who is just a fictional character... someone please tell him Sherlock Holmes isn't and was never, real!

Yes, it could have been Tom Daley but at least he doesn't pretend to know anything.

Yes, watch the quiet ones like David Olusoga who is sussing it all I think. Far more intelligent than Stephen Fry I think.

However, his quietness may act against him.

Think you have intrigued and tempted me.

MollyNew Fri 10-Oct-25 18:01:03

Yes it was a shame about the first murder victim, one of my favourites on the show. They will be on the One Show tonight so we can talk about them after that!

Best comment so far - Alan to Tom - "you can't say someone's a Traitor just because they've got a better vocabulary than you" grin

They are the same unless one gets banished.

Thanks kittylester.

This should be interesting 😁

I'm sure he knows Sherlock Holes wasn't real!
He's not stupid.

Now, that's a matter of debate, the best detective ever 🤔
Sherlock Holmes, Jane Marple, Endeavour Morse?
Answers on a postcard to Ardross Castle.

I think Tom Daley seems perfectly pleasant. He’s not as “showbiz” as many of the others, so possibly not as used to putting on a front.
Was it Alan Carr who said he hates celebrities - they all lie (or something like that)?

NotSpaghetti Fri 10-Oct-25 19:06:23

Ha ha Delila I must have been watching a different programme!

Doodledog Fri 10-Oct-25 19:20:22

It's annoying that it's only on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I love Traitors, and this series looks very promising. I am not a Stephen Fry fan, but think he could be good value in this. I quite like Claire Balding, but agree that she is a bit OTT. I do like David Olusoga, and wonder if he is keeping his powder dry for later. It might work against him though. I'm not sure who some of them are, and don't know much about others, but I'll have a better idea after a while. I think Alan Carr would have a good chance to win on something like Big Brother, but as this relies on a poker face rather than popularity with the public his hopelessness at keeping his thoughts off his face will not go in his favour. Wossy is good value, if he doesn't blot his copybook by saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I agree that Tom Daley isn't very nice. I thought that anyway, but I'm not sure why. The Scottish bloke seems nice enough, but we haven't seen much of him. I know nothing about the influencer, Cat Somone, the comedian chaps. Celia and Charlotte have still to come into their own too. No idea about the rugby player or the Irish actress. Or the woman with the strange accent (where is she from?) Oh, and I've only known Tameka as Kim Fox, so expect her to get her phone out and film everyone for her YouTube channel or wherever Kim's business is supposed to be based. It's all early days though.

I forgot Kate Garraway. I'm not keen on her for some reason. What is Paloma wearing on The One Show? She looks like she's auditioning for Miss Havisham.

Just to make sure, NotSpaghetti was talking to me, it wasn't me who said Tom was unpleasant.

I think he's ok myself, well, as I said, he's a Plymouth boy!!

Delila Fri 10-Oct-25 20:34:19

Yes, I think nearly a week between episodes is too long a gap to keep the momentum going.

I'm surprised there were quite a few votes for Tameka, she seemed to keep herself under the radar to me, or the cameras weren't on her so much.

The traitors can recruit a new traitor instead of murdering if they get down to 2. And if it's just one left then they must recruit a new one.

I only started watching to join in our family group chat as the programme shows
I’m really enjoying it. I very much enjoyed Stephen Fry on Sherlock Holmes. Claire Balding is playing herself, head girl. Tom Daley - my previous unfiunded dislike of him has been confirmed as founded 🤣

nanaK54 Sat 11-Oct-25 12:46:15

I am really enjoying it so far.

Poor Paloma I think she would have been entertaining, loved that they played one of her own songs as they lowered her down!

Laughed when Jonathan (not keen on him usually) suggested that Alan should say a few words as he knew her best.

Enjoyed Tom's side-eye when Kate exclaimed that she was "flabbergasted".

Enjoyed Mark Bonnar who is such a handsome man in his kilt (yes, I know that I am shallow!)

Think that both Clare and Celia are 'clever cookies' and that the Traitors should banish them if they have any sense.

Wish that we didn't have to wait round to Wednesday for the next episode.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 11-Oct-25 13:11:40

Tbh I don’t dislike any of them.

They all bring a different “colour” to the game which I really enjoy watching.

I’m beginning to enjoy this better than the ordinary game.

The theatricality of the players adds to it I think.

Pity little Polema went. I haven’t a clue who she is though😊.

Parsley3 Sat 11-Oct-25 13:17:38

I am beginning to stop thinking of them as celebs and looking at their behaviour as people. I am warming to the fellow that they call a prankster but will have to Google him as I know nothing about his pranks.

escaped Sat 11-Oct-25 13:21:56

You need to watch the Saint Trinians films, Whitewavemark2. Seriously, they're brilliant. Paloma plays the leader of the Emos. She has black Goth hair and loads of piercings. Ironically, the girls sleep in coffins too if I remember and do all macabre stuff.
Celia Imrie is in the films too. She plays the matron. Great films to watch with older grandchildren!

Grannynannywanny Sat 11-Oct-25 13:25:52

For Mark Bonnar fans I’d recommend the BBC documentary Meet You at the Hippos which he made with his father. His dad was an artist responsible for some of the concrete sculptures found in post war new towns in Scotland.

The hippos referred to in the title are sculptures in a housing estate in Glenrothes (just in case you’re expecting to find them on safari 😆)

I recently watched it on BBC iplayer and really enjoyed it.

Could someone explain Traitors too me, please
I haven’t got a clue what’s going on 🤷‍♀️
Thank you

😄😄😄😄 it is best to go with the flow, as my following explanation will show.

Clear as mud!

Actually it is dead simple.

£100000 to be won at the end of the game, by one or two contestants. if the contestants are successful in completing their tasks successfully.

So every day the contestants have a task to complete which if successful will give them money towards the pot.

Before the game started 3 traitors were chosen secretly by fringe lady, and they are allowed murder one contestant each day.

There is also an evening round table where people try to identify the traitors and banish them.

If you get a shield you can’t be murdered that night.
