Celebrity Traitors - may the oldies rule!

Celebrity Traitors starts tonight at 8 pm.

I'm looking forward to it, there's some reasonably good brains competing.
At least two of the contestants are pensioners - Celia Imrie (Calendar Girls, Marigold Hotel etc) and the erudite Sir Stephen Fry.

Crikey… Stephen Fry is the same age as me and I’m definitely not a pensioner!

Stephen Fry is 68

Pensionable age!

Spoiler Alert!

Are we allowed to mention names. The thread will die if we don’t.
I’m sorry Tom has gone. He was good in the challenges.

I’m sorry Tom has gone. He was good in the challenges.

The other contestants actually thought Tom was smart and perceptive. They seemed upset when he got murdered.

(The clip of Tom having a shower was a bit weird). 🙈

I'm sorry that Tom has gone.

BlueBelle Wed 15-Oct-25 23:30:51

I meant about the banished or murdered ones not just names in general 🤣I remember getting told off in the Corrie thread 🤣

Well now I m quite glad Tom Daley has gone I found him not so likeable
Hopefully Jonathon Ross will go soon I find him a bit insufferable Ruth’s onto him but that may make her more vulnerable and a few are onto Alan too I think
Interesting times ahead

Me too BlueBelle, (re Tom).
I have no idea why they thought him smart and perceptive!
I was glad he's gone as he was insufferable. I really liked him before.

Doodledog Wed 15-Oct-25 23:57:20

There is a huge difference between saying someone is leaving a long-running soap and mentioning someone who has left an eviction-based elimination game. It’s easy to discuss soaps without spoiling them for people who don’t read gossip, but impossible to discuss game shows unless names are mentioned.

I was quite surprised that Tom went, although I don’t really care. I’m not sure that Stephen Fry is as clever as he thinks he is, and he’s insufferably smug. David Olusoga is a lot cleverer I think. And Claire is a smart cookie too.

I’m surprised Alan hasn’t had more votes. Maybe it’s because we know he’s a traitor, but it is written all over his face a lot of the time.

escaped Thu 16-Oct-25 07:14:23

I thought Alan was going to confess he is a traitor at one point during the round table discussion!

keepingquiet Thu 16-Oct-25 08:20:42

Loved last night's episode! Sorry that the young man went- he seemed gutted, the actress too.

One thing I'm curious about is which charity each person is supporting- which of course may make a massive difference to some less well known ones.

It adds a different falvour to the show though, as some of the normal contestants are quite clearly in need of the money.

The celebs just get a lot of good publicity...

Yes, and why was his shirt always open? I think he asked for that shower scene to be included...he seems a bit of an exhibitionist on the quiet.

kittylester Thu 16-Oct-25 08:25:55

And, how many times did he mention 'control' in Uncloaked.

Love Niko (or is it Nico?)

NotSpaghetti Thu 16-Oct-25 09:31:27

keepingquiet I have also wondered about this but expect they aren't allowed to talk about it.
If they knew which charities were being supported it might change who you vote off as a traitor I think.

OldFrill Thu 16-Oct-25 09:35:53

Reports suggest the celebrities are paid a flat rate of £40k for participating (they don't have to donate that to charity).
I think non celebrity participants are paid £100 a day.

Parsley3 Thu 16-Oct-25 10:48:39

I am not sorry to see the back of Tom with his unbuttoned shirt but I did like Nico. The programme makers are certainly not letting the celebs off lightly with the challenges. They were soaked to the skin. I felt for Mark who was so upset at getting it so wrong about Tameka but I hope that he and the others have learned a lesson about the difference between fact and opinion. Alan is turning out to be a crafty wee devil and JR had better watch his back. It might be a bit premature but I am backing Cat for the final.

Allira Thu 16-Oct-25 10:51:09

Cat just looks so impassive a lot of the time - would that not seem suspicious?

annodomini Thu 16-Oct-25 11:40:52

Celia Imrie, who plays Joyce in The Thursday Murder Club is playing the same part in The Traitors!

Doodledog Thu 16-Oct-25 11:58:59

I hope that he and the others have learned a lesson about the difference between fact and opinion.

The trouble is they have no 'facts' to go on. It's all opinion.

Jaxjacky Thu 16-Oct-25 12:05:48

I too commented on the open shirt to MrJ ‘he’s missing a medallion’.
JR seems rather cocky to me, Ruth has him sussed.

Parsley3 Thu 16-Oct-25 12:05:58

Exactly that. It's a guessing game and the guesses are way off just now, except for Ruth who has sussed JR.

I agree. I have never liked Jonathan Ross and agree Ruth could be in danger. I don’t think he is as clever as he thinks he is and has already made a couple of slips. I have never forgotten that awful phone call to Andrew Sachs he was part of with Russell Brand.
Disappointed with Tom Daley as I thought I would like him but I think he is rather full of himself. I really disliked the slogan on his jumper in ‘Uncloaked’.

kittylester Thu 16-Oct-25 13:03:06

I really love Ruth - isn't she fabulous! I wish David would get a but more involved.

And I wish someone would wipe the smug, aren't i bright, smirk off Stephen Fry's face.

StripeyGran Thu 16-Oct-25 13:04:14

JR comes across as a sociopath to me. Ruth is funny.

Grannynannywanny Thu 16-Oct-25 13:15:26

I loved how Ruth came out of her shell last night and set about Jonathan Ross. She tells it like it is but sadly it will probably work against her. JR will want to see the back of her asap.

I’ve never been a fan of Alan Carr but I’ve really warmed to him in Traitor. I’ve found the opposite with Tom Daley. I’ve gone right off him 😀

Yes to all of that

I will add "don't pee in my ear and try to tell me it's raining" to my favourite sayings!

YorkLady Thu 16-Oct-25 15:54:00

They must have hours of footage but it’s all heavily edited. I would like to see more of David, Lucy and Nick chatting.
