Atill trying to get through these.
Just cannot understand why they make a tv show about a very hectic time in British History, and then try to re-write most of that history.

I don't know anything about this programme.
What is it attempting to cover?

Its about the Battle of Hastings. I tend to watch anything "historical" but I found it rather boring and full of inventuon.

Yes, it takes liberties with some of the historical detail but I've enjoyed it, probably because this era has largely been overlooked. We've had so much about Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, the Romans, not to mention Jane Austen. There is so much more to British history than that. James Norton is always worth watching too.

Same here. I rewatched it after listening to lots of podcasts about that era. It was so complicated I don’t think they could have made something totally historically accurate about it. In the end imo they did capture the essence of that time albeit condensing events that took place over thirty years into just a few. A lot of the events did actually happen but not necessarily at that time or to that person. I had no idea about Harold’s brother supporting the Vikings or that Harold and William had met. Or that all of them were always having to take themselves off to Flanders for safety.

Don't like the historical ending, and fond of James Norton, so not watching.
