Clean It, Fix It…new series

I started to watch it as I like this sort of programme. However, I found it just said everything that others have said before. Ok, maybe they fix things as well decorate, and that was different but apart from that, it was same old, same old. Shan’t be bothering with it again.

I find it strangely comforting. I watch so many programmes like Scotlands Home of the Year ( and I’ve discovered the Irish version on utube) in which the houses are perfect in every way that it’s refreshing to see normal imperfect houses like mine. For some reason it motivates me.’Sort your life out’ stresses me because I imagine having to put all my clutter in a warehouse.

I like this programme and also Sort Your Life Out. It's nice to see people being helped. My other half says it's just "throw your old food away and put up some shelves" and he's probably right but I still enjoy it. I'm a hoarder at heart but I've learned to let go of stuff over recent years.

I’m a ‘ this might come in useful one day’ sort of person and the fact that things I put in recycling don’t always get recycled properly and that other stuff goes into landfill results in me hanging onto things out of guilt. I sometimes just need permission to throw something away.

Ohh, I'm sorry to be the party- pooper here, but I cannot understand the popularity of reality programmes such as;" Find it, fix it, bore-me." Or indeed, "The I need repairing shop!"
What a load of over-sentimental rubbish.
In particular, I find the back-stories; only relevant to the fame-hungry bringers-in of stuff, very tedious & generally, only of interest to themselves.
Furthermore, most of of presenters\ repairer's on this drivel are saccharin -fake & creepily insincere.
When did humans become so needy & so facile?

Well, I never watch programmes like The Repair shop but, as a divorced woman living in a house held together with bits of gaffer tape and string I find the practical advice in some programmes really helpful. I also like the way they try to use natural cleaning products. I agree about the back stories, though. Someone I know was in this sort of programme and the producers missed out certain things in their house that they deemed not suitable and desperately searched for a back story that they didn’t particularly want them to use.

They seem to have a few different people in it eg Tommy isn’t in it every week.But the cleaning lady is in most of them. In my dreams I’d borrow Tommy and Asher for a few days to put up shelves and build storage everywhere.

I love The Repair Shop and have an item I am thinking of applying to take on. The Clean It Fix It confuses me. Where do they put all the clutter that they ship out of the area in question? Frequently they tell the tenants that they can go through it in their own time so where the heck do they put it. Surely they're just cluttering another room.

May I ask a question?
It it a prerequisite that all the presenters on the plethora of fixy-up programs currently on the box suit dungarees & poncy chore jackets?
