and what about these adds showing women sitting on the toilet puting panty liners on, and the " oh my gush moments "...really sickening...

And why does everyone in the riser chairs and walk-in baths and shower ads walk in that smug, irritating way!

Because they’re young, fit, slim and all their joints are in perfect working order.
They’ve got to earn a crust!

Also how does she get that robe on before she steps out of the shower? There's nowhere to hang it , iy would be soaking wet. They also miss out sitting waiting for the bath to empty before you can open the door. I record as much stuff as possible so I can fast forward all the ads.

While we're talking about ads, why does M&S keep sending me pictures of men and women in underwear? At 79 I have very little interest in skimpy knickers or men in budgie smugglers. Where has all this come from? Why can't I just see some clothes?

Colls

I'm not really in a position to pay to avoid the adverts at the moment. I don't mind that there are adverts so much as the nature of them and their relentless sad and miserable tone aimed at older people.

And why do they leave the walk in bath/shower with no difficulty, just stroll away in a white towelling robe, no walking sticks required?

Buy a recording box from Argos. £259. We just set all the stuff we want and watch whenever. Wind through all adverts. Brilliant! Can set 3 things at one timing too.

Adverts are wasted on me as I take no notice of them. I like the fact I have a few minutes to make a cuppa/ pour a glass of wine/go to the loo/put the electric blanket on etc., without missing any of the programme.

I catch up on my phone during ads, or make tea, Used to enjoy some of them. Gordon's Gin. Never drank it but liked the lifestyle, at that time. The Flake ads. Can't think of any new worth watching, and they spend a fortune trying to target them to their audience.

Could you pay the subscription to miss out the adverts?

We pay £75 a year, on some service or other, to not have to see and listen to most of them.
DH and I decided the cost was worth it.
In money, and time saved watching dross[for us].

Colls I completely agree. We are retired and those ads drive me mad. Why would you go to a funeral then come home and have a bath raving about sausage rolls.

I like to chill away from the news by wathing old programmes on ITV 3 but the constant miserable adverts especially in the afternoon are driving me away and I feel grumpy!
If it's not funeral plans, walk in baths, stand up chairs, it's destressing appeal for donations. Especially the ones for animals touch me - but I am already very active in fundraising in this field.
Their deliberate targeting of older people, who I assume they assume watch daytime tv feels discriminatory and has such an insidious effect on the mood.
I know I'm not the only one to think this, Gyles Brandreth put it into Room Room 101 some years ago - and he advertises incontinance panty liners!
