Really dislike the adverts on ITV3

I like to chill away from the news by wathing old programmes on ITV 3 but the constant miserable adverts especially in the afternoon are driving me away and I feel grumpy!
If it's not funeral plans, walk in baths, stand up chairs, it's destressing appeal for donations. Especially the ones for animals touch me - but I am already very active in fundraising in this field.
Their deliberate targeting of older people, who I assume they assume watch daytime tv feels discriminatory and has such an insidious effect on the mood.
I know I'm not the only one to think this, Gyles Brandreth put it into Room Room 101 some years ago - and he advertises incontinance panty liners!

I've just seen one on Channel 5 which I think hits a new low. Two folk singers on a stage with a violin and a guitar, singing a song about "Simply Cremations, Way to go, Way to go". Maybe it could be our next Eurovision entry.

Oh isn’t it dreadful! Who thinks these things up I wonder? I have to mute it.

I was just about to comment on that one! Just awful 😖

After complaining about ads for funerals I saw the one involving folk singers - I felt disgusted as they sang " way to go ."

The adverts are ageist and awful, but they seem to get away with it. I absolutely hate adverts for older people and the incontinence ones are sickening. Thank God I don't watch daytime TV, anything I do watch is taped and ads whizzed through.

All the above-mentioned get on my nerves as does the one with the smug couple jetting off on their ‘second holiday this year’ with their All Clear insurance.

None of these commercials tempt me to purchase their products.

The marketing people certainly seem to know when their target audience!

Advertising isn't about being inclusive or representative- it's about getting noticed and they certainly seem to be successful here!

This is why I prefer to watch channels with no ads. Yes, it is called the BBC.

I only rarely watch ITV 3, and when the ads come on find something to distract my attention...

I agree Colls about depressing ads, overloaded sick donkeys,
Wet shaky kittens, dancing bears and so on, totally spoils whatever programme you’re watching.
I tend to record as much as possible and whizz by them.

Definitely record and fast forward

I laugh at the overweight man in the bath who has been stuffing himself at a funeral buffet, dreaming of sausage rolls while his wife is on the phone to Pure Cremation. 😂😂

Why does his wife talk to him through a crack in the door? Has she never seen him without his clothes on?

I also am irritated by the man in the bath contemplating his navel and sausage rolls.
The other one that makes me annoyed is the enthusiastic woman who says ,Mexico ".
Please go to Mexico and take the sausage roll man with you .His wife won't mind.

Totally agree, awful ads,, and it can make younger people see us differently,
What a load of old claptrap, and also how young do these(elderly) actors look?

My OH thinks the wife is ready to push him under the water grin

Why do they have to be so excited and smiling in a self satisfied fashion just because they have planned their funeral That bloke in the bath and the silly wife especially.

The stupid man dancing round the living room because he's bought an over 50's plan or something. I don't even know what the advert is about because it's so annoying. Why are the over 50's portrayed in this ridiculous way?

The hard sell is always annoying .
I hate the ads for Dormeo beds and worst -the endless funeral plans sometimes ba.ck to back .As I write this there's another one and it's not on ITV 3.
I find them really depressing .
I make tea when they are on,but there's only so much that you can drink or I switch over for a couple of minutes.
Maybe thatc75 quid is worth it !

Wow - Dormeo ads go on forever and ever, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..........

My Dad had a theory that "if they have to advertise it/that/them so much then it/that/them can't be bloody selling!"

I’m afraid that the fact that the supermarket /cruise/oldies’ chairs and bath ads have aroused comment - even your displeasure- shows that their timing has been effective and that they have been noticed . So from an advertising point of view, they are working ! Job done grin

^And why does everyone in the riser chairs and walk-in baths and shower ads walk in that smug, irritating way!^

Because they’re young, fit, slim and all their joints are in perfect working order.
They’ve got to earn a crust!

They need to show real life models who actually need to use a walk- in bath/shower.

Maybe 70+ year olds, overweight, bad hips and knees, walking stick in each hand, shuffling across a little bathroom…..

But perhaps not such a glam image as 30 somethings, slim and trim, towel draped casually across tanned shoulders as they emerge from said shower and stroll casually across the room…

grandMattie Mon 03-Nov-25 05:24:07

Life insurance? Unaffordable cruises? And endless gambling/bingo ads…

windmill1 Mon 03-Nov-25 04:10:12

There's one ad for walk-in baths which shows the model strolling languidly across a bathroom that must be as big as a ballroom! My humble little shower room would fit into it about 4 times over.

Shirleyw Mon 03-Nov-25 01:25:15

Yes, itv3 has very depressing adverts, irritating, I tend to watch ITVX and paid for no ads, can watch what I like when I like then.

Moonwatcher1904 Mon 03-Nov-25 01:00:14

The Pepto Bismol advert gets me. People singing about heartburn, nausea, upset stomach and the idiot at the end singing diarrhea as he lifts his leg and holds his bum. Someone said on another post if it gets you talking about it then the advertisers have done their job...lol
