I couldn’t go outside in the dark for years after watching the Charlton Heston film of The Omega Man so I’ve been very careful after that. The Descent probably wasn’t too bad because there’s no chance of claustrophobic me going underground. I do go walking in rather creepy places after dark so I have to be careful. There’s another film that del Toro was involved with that stopped me going into the loft for quite a while, too.

Honestly Maybee70 The Blair Witch Project isn’t really scary at all, more quirky and strange, well acted it won’t affect you walking in the dark, unless you enjoy plodding through woods.
But yes, if you have a good imagination then things stay with you more, and much more from films than by reading the book.

The trouble with scary things is they stay with you forever don’t they. I’ve never watched Blair Witch Project in case I start thinking about it if I’m out walking after dark. And I’ve never got over seeing The Exorcist. Or The Descent. I’ve got the dvd of Midsommar which I still haven’t watched just in case.

We really loved it and my husband generally does not watch films of this nature. We both love Mr Del Toros work though. Pan's Labyrinth is another favourite of ours. If you really enjoy 'horror' check out his Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix, it's great but not if you don't like horror.

I’ve been dithering about watching Cabinet Of Curiosities, how scary is it?
There’s always some pathos in his work, Pan’s Labyrinth left me tearful and I imagine Frankenstein will be emotional too.

I rewatched Pans Labyrinth recently. We’d really struggled to see it at a cinema when it first came out but managed to find a cinema in the next town that was showing it. Even though I had the dvd I didn’t watch it again till it was on tv recently, and I ‘m glad I rewatched it having forgotten most of it. I watched all of del Torro’s back catalogue after that. I believe there’s a documentary about him coming out soon? Hadn’t realised Frankenstein was Netflix; had thought it was on in the cinemas.

I will watch it. Especially after reading the messages.

I almost stopped watching as the first part dragged on but glad I stuck with it

Yes I admit the beginning was a bit slow but I too stuck with it .

Excellent, true Frankenstein. True to the premise of the book but a few tweaks here and there. 9/10 I think

I found it very moving in the end. Very well played by Jacob Elordi.
