I'm another with BT (now EE) for broadband, TV hub and digital landline package. It's gone up and I'm now paying £49.99 per month which is too much.

I'd like to know what others are paying for their package?

We did away with packages
We had an aerial fitted in the loft. We have a Manhattan box for all terrestrial and recording.
We receive Netflix etc etc through our internet which costs £25 per month.
This system cost £160 4 years ago.

I only have the internet with Virgin and earlier this year I phoned them when the price shot up to £54 a month. I was told as a loyal customer of over 20 years it would be reduced to £47. Recently I received an email saying it would go up by £3.50 in the New year on top of the annual increase. My email address is connected to Virgin so I have spent the last three weeks changing my email address with all and sundry. Weirdly I have been unable to get gransnet to accept my new email so I will have to apply again. I will say changing my email has not been easy so be prepared to spend a lot of time stuck in front of the computer or on the phone. The air around me was very blue after I was told by an insurance company (whom I had been with for years with the one email address) that due to a new system I would need two new email addresses one for my car insurance and one for household. Consequently I requested all my household insurance information to be sent by post, I will be getting a new provider when my current policy runs out. Now to decide who go with.

Chestnut we were offered that as an introductory price for three months. After that it went up about £20 pcm. It was still a better bargain for us taking the mobile phone reduction into consideration.

We have Sky and been with them for years. Rarely any problem with it and we upgraded to Sky Glass last year. No dish so no problems with losing it when it rains heavily. Have tv, broadband and landline with them.

We've been with Virgin since ntlworld days, possibly even cabletel, and have had very few problems, all of which have been quickly rectified. They gave me a good deal for 18 months and just as I was getting ready to negotiate a new deal they sent me an email to say they were extending it for another 12 months as we were longstanding and good customers.

Just to add, this is a basic TV package with no extras like sport. It's the cheapest they do I suppose, but is this normal or am I being played?

We have everything with Sky, and although it’s not cheap we get fast speeds and reliability.

Aveline Thu 20-Nov-25 11:57:19

I do pay more than that but I have a large TV package with them and also get reduced mobile phone bill.

I kept my BT internet email address when we were switched. I had been quite happy with BT but they have been taken over by EE and sooner or later everyone will be switched. I didn't want to and feared complications but all went well.

Been with EE for years and years and never had a problem

crazyH Wed 19-Nov-25 22:19:01

Sorry Madmeg I did not answer your question, because frankly, I don’t know.

dragonfly46 Wed 19-Nov-25 22:18:32

We have Sky for tv but hated their Broadband so now have fibre with Zen.

crazyH Wed 19-Nov-25 22:16:54

I’m with Sky - TV, Broadband, Telephone and am very pleased with it. I think I pay £69pm for the bundle, anytime calls included

Madmeg
If you want a basic email service you can keep your present one for free.
With respect I don’t think you need BTs premium email service at £7.50 per month.

I really struggle to understand all this techy stuff (having a DH who worked in this field for many years but is equally ignorant.

We are with BT at home cos we always have been. They provide the hub as well as our (now digital) landline. Service has been good till recently but I've had several hiccups and the cost has soared.

I've been told by several friends that if I switch provider my btinternet email address will have to be changed and I can't find out how this can be done without a lot of hassle.

Can anyone advice - in simple terms please?

What jaxjacky said.

Until recently Virgin was not available here but we havecalways found Sky good.

jobieP Wed 19-Nov-25 20:55:55

Thank you for your replies. Still considering what to do

Jaxjacky Wed 19-Nov-25 14:01:15

We’ve been with Sky for a good few years, always been very reliable and when required the customer service is fine. Only recently had fibre installed in the area, some people moved to Virgin, but they've had lots of issues, for an extra tenner per month, we’ll stay where we are.

Charleygirl5 Wed 19-Nov-25 13:51:57

I am with Community Fibre and pay around £29 a month. I am not sure if that is a London thing. I was with EE and had to get out because they were a bunch of scammers, trying to charge me £78 a month.

We had been with Virgin for many years but when our contract ended we went to Sky, we get a much faster broadband speed and Netflix, Paramount plus and Sky Cinema are included in the package. We also get two cinema tickets a month but this is for Vue cinemas which we don’t have locally. Happy so far.

I'm with Virgin and rarely have problems.
I love their Tivo box and I also have a landline with them.

The only thing is that the price rises regularly and when you say you're thinking of leaving they lower the price considerably.
It's a silly game to play but it seems many broadband suppliers are like this.
They don't seem to value their customers as all the best offers are to entice new people to join them.

We have just moved to Virginia, excellent coverage throughout the house and garden.

Aveline Wed 19-Nov-25 10:10:34

We're with EE. We were moved there when they took over BT. Its been good. A man came and changed all the various boxes and bits and pieces and set it all up. Costs and bill exactly as discussed. Give them a try?

jobieP Wed 19-Nov-25 10:07:59

We have always been with Virgin but now thinking of changing to sky.
Who are you with and are you happy with the service?
