I watched the first episode yesterday. Powerful stuff and shaping up to be an excellent portrayal of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe's terrible experience and her loving husband's dedication and support.

I agree with you, Mollynew. It was chilling and powerful indeed. I was rather tired but this production had me glued to the screen. Excellent acting and well worth watching.

I thought it was excellent and the drama really brought a terrible situation to life. The acting was outstanding and I agree it was riveting. I am looking forward to the next episode tonight.

Watching it also.
Horrific experience for Nazanin and her family, and those stolen years of life.

Aldom Mon 24-Nov-25 20:40:57

I agree with all that has already been said.
I shall be watching the next episode this evening.

It’s powerful, harrowing and heartbreaking. Superb acting.
I feel almost guilty ‘enjoying’ the account of Nazanin’s appalling treatment but it’s a must watch drama.

I watched the final episode this afternoon, it was so moving. I can only the strength of Nazanin and her family in the face of such an ordeal.

It’s brilliantly acted. It really brings home to us what we heard on the news back then. I’m urging everyone I know to watch it.

It also shows what a disaster and a laughing stock Johnson was as our PM.

I haven't watched the final episode but even though I know it ends well, what this poor woman went through due to Johnson's incompetency and complete lack of compassion was unforgiveable.

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 22:31:53

keepingquiet you took the words out of my mouth Johnson was/ is such a huge embarrassment and a dangerous embarrassment at that
Very well done drama and so moving how kind and loving the women were to each other I haven’t watched ahead going along with it as it plays

Do watch the 'follow up' document Prisoner 951: The Hostages Story

I have found it absorbing, moving and so well acted, each episode flies by. I shall wait and watch the last one tomorrow. The Foreign Office as well as Johnson were not shown in a good light, were they without feelings?

Catterygirl Sun 30-Nov-25 23:31:15

I was undecided as to whether to watch but will download it after your comments.

People with a UK passport or connections are warned by the Foreign Office not to visit Iran! I went there back in the 1970s and again in the 1990s. Its a fascinating country but would not go in the present climate. People like Craig and Lindsay Foreman, (the couple who were stopping and interviewing peope and photographing them) who go to these countries take their life in their hands. Then they wonder why they get arrested.

TerriBull Mon 01-Dec-25 10:23:47

I used to worry about my ex next door neighbours they're Iranian came to this country after the revolution, we lived next door for many years. Mother, son and daughter. Father lived in Switzerland but came over to visit. Son went to live in the States, eventually the pull of home was too much for the mum, she went back to Iran. Which left daughter who went on reluctant visits to her mother. This wasn't a girl who would embrace wearing a headscarf and I was worried for her when she went there. I think she was too. She's been down to visit us where we are now and said last time we saw her "don't fancy going there again, I've asked mum to come over here"

I shall watch this, I can imagine its very fraught. Poor Nazanin what an awful ordeal for her and her family.

Isn't it gripping and shocking , an incredible drama. Quite unbelievable. I remember it on the news but I didn't get too attached to the story , the news distresses me . Johnson caused them so much pain and never apologised to put things right . There are some shocking things that go on and many dark secrets kept

What a brilliant drama. I had no idea of the background to this story.

I remember Nazanin speaking in Britain after her release, and criticizing government efforts. Now I've seen this programme, I can understand why.

Awful behaviour on behalf of BJ and the Foreign Office.

I'd hate for the BBC to lose their funding and have to stop making dramas of this quality.

I also have been hooked watching it and couldn’t agree more with your comments. The subsequent revelations were and still are shocking.
It goes to show, once again, that we the general public, know very little about the behind the scenes shenanigans of all Governments, regardless of party.

62Granny Tue 02-Dec-25 12:24:02

It just goes to show us, yet again how Government even here in the UK with supposedly free speech can control what they want us to know! The way they made her husband and his family suppress what was happening was disgusting, they were just as bad as the Iraq government.
