Camilla - dignified 🤣

Grannycool52 Tue 02-Dec-25 07:07:21

Thanks Grandma70s, I see what you mean.
I think she's better at the job than most royal wives have been in our lifetime, though.
Sophie's okay, but Diana, Fergie, Megan and even Camilla have been a lot less dignified than Catherine.

I think Catherine will make a great Queen when the time comes. She does need to put some weight on though, she is extremely thin. (Jealous, me - never!)
She would be a darn sight better than some of the Queens in the past.

Catherine doesn’t seem to me to be genuinely at home in her role of princess.

I think she's down to earth at everyday events, but she can step it up when the occasion demands it.

She looked truly regal at King Charles' coronation 👑

Grandma70s, what do you mean by "not truly regal"? This is a genuine question.

As I said, “more hockey captain”. Catherine doesn’t seem to me to be genuinely at home in her role of princess. She seems, as I said, self-conscious. This is not surprising, but I find it hard to see her as a queen.

I put this up for those that are interested.. Strange that people not interested choose to reply! in my opinion!

Thank you for posting, I didn't know this programme was on!

Watching it now, cup of coffee on the table I inherited via my Dad from his parents, who brought it back from India.

Grandpop was in the Royal Army Medical Corps and their badge is engraved into the table top, which was made to order probably in the 1930s.

(The rest of my furniture came from local shops eight years ago).

Poor King Charles has only been king for five minutes after waiting all his life so why are people talking about him as if he’s already dead and William is about to be king. Hopefully Charles will reign for a good few years yet before we need to be thinking of William taking over.

henetha - I guess we would have.
On the other hand, I guess they want to stay out of the limelight, for fear of criticism.

henetha Sat 29-Nov-25 23:18:51

I hope so too. I think we would have heard if there is something wrong.

crazyH Sat 29-Nov-25 23:16:23

Don’t see much of Catherine’s parents - hope they’re ok

henetha Sat 29-Nov-25 23:15:06

The Princess of Wales will make a brilliant queen in my opinion.
There's so much speculation and not much fact in these channel 5 programmes. But I agree they are kind of fascinating

That is exactly what I was going to say, Liloldlady. Two lots of cancer, two spouses worried about their partners, David Dimbleby wading in with his totally unnecessary queries, Fergie threatening to explode and the Edinburgh's housing arrangements suddenly questioned.
And Katherine, a 'nice enough suburban girl who has achieved the ultimate in social climbing.' Oh dear me.
You would know, obviously.

And heaven forbid her parents bought their own furniture because they didn’t inherit it. Whatever next. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks Petra, your comment made me laugh

IMO Catherine is the best thing to happen to the RF in a. Ely long time. The snobby comments here are very Hyacinth Bouquet

Agreed.

I wouldn't normally comment on programmes I didn't or wouldn't watch but I did ask the other day why Channel 5 is so obsessed with the Royal Family?

It is more than an interest, it is an obsession. Leave them alone.

I do like Catherine and she and William seem to make a good team.

Some of my furniture was inherited, btw.
Just saying 😀

dotpocka Sat 29-Nov-25 22:43:49

any other day they/you bitching that catherine is wonderful
ya'll are all full,,,

LOUISA1523 Sat 29-Nov-25 21:56:22

Too many snobs on GN thats for sure

LOUISA1523 Sat 29-Nov-25 21:55:38

Catherine is lovely...just what the royal family need....relatable...the queen is dead and the old ways died with her...they had their day and that was fine...but the royal family need to move with the times and thats exactly what William and Catherine are able to do

Fed up with all these programmes about the Royals. Leave them in peace for a while please!

Oh, I like these ‘Royal’ programmes.

Not much else on a Saturday night, after Strictly.

I believe at one time Charles was saying that the Queen should retire, when she was the age he is now, didn’t he? William has never suggested this to my knowledge.

Grandma70s Sat 29-Nov-25 20:15:40

Crossstitchfan

I thought that too.
‘The king is dead! Long live the king!’
Rightly if wrongly, I’m not sure William will make a good king, and I really can’t see Catherine as Queen. To me, she has always come across as fake, and never seems completely genuine.
Now you can all start shouting at me!

That’s the first time I’ve seen anyone express doubts about Catherine. I’m inclined to agree. She seems like a nice enough suburban girl who has achieved the ultimate in social climbing, but a bit self conscious as a result. Not truly regal, more hockey captain.

I’m happy about William, though. I will watch the programme.

Not that long ago - but not in our lifetime - the death of the monarch could not be discussed. One would be sent to the Tower.
