TerriBull

Yes starnded it's a very Christmassy film. A New England covered in snow, the soundtrack interspersed with carols and church services, definitely one for this time of the year I thought.

I will def look out for this, thanks.😃

Truly, a lovely, reflective quiet film, of how people can change and redeem their lives from troubled to acceptance and happiness. Very, very highly recommended, and a gentle humour too.

Yes indeed. I really enjoyed it and was glad to see it was on Netflix. I'd noted it when it came out but couldn't go to the cinema to see it.

👍 love these sort of films. I shall also record “A Private Function” late tonight on Film 4.

Great film. Slow burn ,some fantastic scenes. The score is tremendous too.

I broke my rule and watched it twice, I might even watch it again at Christmas.

This was a film we meant to see at the cinema when it came out, but somehow missed it. I watched it last night, what a treat. Great acting, really poignant. Set in a boys boarding school, early '70s, the title of the film refers to a handful of boys who for whatever reason can't return home to their families at Christmas and have to stay at the school under the auspices of curmudgeonly teacher, played by Paul Giamatti, who rather unreasonably still expects them to attend lessons. What follows is an unlikely bond that forms between him, losing some of his grumpiness along the way and a damaged troublemaker pupil. Great film enjoyed some of the soundtrack evoking the era, especially remembering Labi Siffre's "Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying"

5 star film.
