The NHS is not a charity either. It is a public service fully funded by the UK taxpayer.

During Covid people donated to Captain Tom (remember him) because they thought they were donating to the NHS but they weren't.

The NHS cannot accept private donations except if they are for specific hospital charities which help provide facilities for staff and patients and their relatives.

The unfortunate reality of our private health care system is that many clinics and services they provide are registered as charities- so even though I have no idea who this woman is either, she is probably doing nothing wrong and making her own choice even if some wouldn't agree with it.

I am so annoyed.
This lady, Vanessa Williams, dont know who she is, but obviously a ‘celebrity’ , has donated her winnings to the London Clinic (a PRIVATE clinic). Surely, they have enough money - why not give it to the NHS ? It’s her choice I know but surely, the London Clinic is not a ‘charity’. All the other celebrities give their winnings to Charities, not to private institutions. Anyway, I had to vent …
