I suspect that the modern meaning for 'reach out' is simply 'contact me' or 'tell me.' I dislike emotive terms being used for everyday language.

Stranger Things is a very popular and I mean ‘very’ popular series on Netflix, fans have been waiting years for the latest offering.
I don’t watch it but have friends who do, one an elderly lady in her eighties, and they do get completely hooked.

Sorry for the word elderly, am in my mid seventies so not far off my eighties.
And my friend is far from being white haired and frail.
