New thread.

Corrie has been strange lately. Flashbacks, odd music, aerial views - a far cry from Ena and co in t'snug grin

I don't mind the odd flight of fancy, but on the whole I prefer it as a modern version of a 'kitchen sink drama'. I can do without gangsters and zombie policewomen prowling the streets, and prisoners' husbands persecuting Roy.

I guess they are hoping to attract another generation of viewers, but I'm not sure this modernisation will work - it's as likely to alienate the ones they've got, I think.

I don't think they were married legally either Calendargirl I seem to remember them exchanging rings but no registrar there. A more unlikely alliance I have yet to find.

Calendargirl Fri 30-Jan-26 07:37:13

Did Dev and Bernie ever get married properly?

I know they had some daft fake ceremony, but did they actually go to a register office and do it legally?

I seem to recall they did, but very low key as either Bernie or Dev was in a strop about something.

Still the most unlikely alliance in the chequered history of Corrie.

Calendargirl Fri 30-Jan-26 07:33:33

And why was she fiddling about with her hairpiece when she was lying on the bed?

She was scratching the back of her head so much it made my own head itch!

Charleygirl5 Thu 29-Jan-26 22:21:49

I thought Bernie's acting was very poor. Not a good episode.

Grannynannywanny Thu 29-Jan-26 21:38:17

I didn’t enjoy that episode at all. I’m wondering if Bernie and her new friend Mal are going to end up in hospital after ingesting a bad batch of drugs. I did begin to wonder if he was dead when Ryan came to the room.

We can now look forward to more gibberish and overacting from Dev when the story unfolds.

Calendargirl Thu 29-Jan-26 20:59:37

Oh, not a nice episode.

I wish they had made ‘Mal’ a bit more attractive.

He was most unfanciable.

No offence taken! I too was disappointed with the turn out for Billy's funeral. In soapland friends and family never return.

Calendargirl Thu 29-Jan-26 17:34:22

No offence intended to Hull Bukkie, but I find myself waiting to hear her say it, and feeling irritated every time.

Bukkie Thu 29-Jan-26 17:13:44

Calendargirl - Coaaach is how we pronounce it in Hull where Megan is supposedly from. We drag our vowels out.

Charleygirl5 Thu 29-Jan-26 07:47:15

Money is too short to pay for extras. We are not supposed to notice the finer details.

I would pay to see a fight and a double death in the street, Theo and Carl. That will not happen because Theo is apparently around for a while longer.

Calendargirl Thu 29-Jan-26 07:05:08

I’ve said this before about Corrie funerals, (and weddings).

Does no one have family? Parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, cousins…..

The neighbours are always in the front seats.

Grannycool52 Wed 28-Jan-26 21:43:41

I thought the turnout for Billy's funeral was poor. Most of those present were Corrie regulars. Why so few parishioners? Why no other clergy from the diocese? There seemed to be no relatives either.
When I've attended funerals of clergy, the churches have always been packed.
Surely they could have paid extras to attend for a few minutes, given that Billy was such an important character in the show.
On another matter, I do wish Theo and Carl would get their come-uppance!
Bernie's row with Dev seemed a bit contrived.

Charleygirl5 Wed 28-Jan-26 18:43:22

Thanks. I couldn't see who had overheard Theo. I was pleased Theo didn't see him or George and Todd would have another body on their hands.

Sarnia Wed 28-Jan-26 16:32:18

So Carl and Theo both have something on one another. Wonder who will blink first?

Calendargirl Wed 28-Jan-26 07:12:45

I think it’s concerning that, like the cafe, the funeral parlour can just be abandoned at the drop of a hat, and some random person be left in charge, particularly as occupied coffins are within sight of the front door.

If I were a grieving relative, going in to enquire about a funeral, I would not wish to be confronted by Theo, and fobbed off with the offer of a cuppa, whilst waiting for the boss to return.

And without wishing to offend any local regional accents, if I have to listen to nasty Megan referring to herself as Will’s ‘kawch’, one more time…..

I missed last night's episode, but thanks for filling me in. It would appear I missed very little.

I have never liked Mary, it would be easier to mention the few I do such as Sam, George, Christine (is that her name)? and posibly a few others.

Calendargirl Tue 27-Jan-26 12:11:11

Sam is what, 14?

But going on 40.

He is such an intelligent, upright lad that I can’t imagine he will sit back and tell no one of his concerns.

Maybe not straightaway, think he will keep a low profile, but will quietly be gathering evidence.

We shall have to wait and see.

Dylis Tue 27-Jan-26 09:55:33

I rolled my eyes so often last night, I'm surprised I could focus properly this morning!
Really dreadful, improbable story lines. I thought I had missed an episode when Kit showed Summer the bag with Paul's ashes. Why were Kirt and Chesney standing in the dark talking about a quiz? Are Mary and Brian going deaf? They shouted every line at each other. I also didn't really Mary was working in the cabin (must have missed that episode.
How on earth Megan hasn't been rumbled as a pervert preying on teenage boys is beyond me. Schools are a hotbed of gossip and she certainly wouldn't have gone unnoticed with either the staff or other pupils.

I hope Jodie gets a STI test ….

BlueBelle Mon 26-Jan-26 23:44:05

I have to say I didn’t enjoy Corrie at all tonight, I found Mary and Wathisface in the sweet shop (and the Rovers) acting really overdone and silly. I have praised Summers realistic sorrow up to now but I thought she overdid it so much tonight. Maggie puts me off everytime she’s o pens her mouth and Megan and the storyline is stupid Yes of course teachers can and do occasionally groom children but somehow it’s coming over very false I don’t think it’s been well done at all Sam has got older but still has that whispery way of talking and as for Jodie jumping into bed with Carl ….wtf
Well that’s me boo/ hiss

Charleygirl5 Mon 26-Jan-26 23:30:04

I wonder at times if there is running water because nobody appears to wash their hands. Come in the door, coat off and start work.

I wonder what the hygiene rating is for Roys Rolls? Nina with her hair all over the place, Bernie, Shona and now Jodie - have any of them got a hygiene certificate? I would have expected Roy to be more of a stickler for the rules. Looks like poor Roy is about to be catfished.

Since when has Corrie been realistic?

C'mon young Sam follow your instincts...
I hate this grooming storyline and really want Megan to be found out

Sam is a smart Cookie and has her sussed. I just hope he dobs her in soon.
