Thank you BBC for the massive spoiler in the trailers. I was saving it for a binge watch!

I watched series 1 with daughter3.

Tom Hiddleston is gorgeous. The others? Not at all.

Daughter 2 informed us series 2 is tedious.

I loved both series, having binged watched both in the few weeks.

I hated the ending of series two!

I think Tom Hiddleston was gorgeous in both series.

I’m livid Olivia Coleman’s character was shot and left for her young daughter to find!

Just finished Series 2
Let’s hope Series 3 is better

I was also struck by how beautiful Columbia looks. I’d love to visit to see the natural beauty but of course, never will.

I’ve just seen that a new series is being written now so let’s hope it won’t take them ten years this time.

I also almost forgot it was just a story at the end! So many twists and turns, it was terrificly entertaining. Can't wait for the third series. Noah Jupe is a great young actor so it will be fascinating to see how Danny progresses. Hugh Laurie is a fabulous actor, I loved him in House and Blackadder.

I felt the same about Teddy, glammagran - almost sorry for him - until I remembered what he’d done and was planning to do. And Roper is set to manipulate and do it all again with Danny his other son. Until I remembered it’s a television drama!

glammagran Mon 02-Feb-26 14:18:39

I thought series 2 got off to a slow start but then ramped up. I’ve really enjoyed it. At the end, evil triumphed so Roper has to get his come uppance in series 3. Hugh Laurie has said he absolutely loves playing one of the most menacing tv villains I’ve ever seen. Was this really a comedy actor at one time? As for messing with your head I almost felt sorry for Teddy at the end, taken out by his own father. Then I had to remember he was a merciless killer himself!

Well, that was a roller coaster finale. The baddie got away and appears to have won, the goodie lives but badly injured and sadly other goodies lost their lives along the way. So it appears Jonathan Pine 1, Richard Roper 1. The producers are playing with us because of course there has to be a 3rd series to resolve things! Not sure I want to get involved again, too nail biting and heart rate increasing. Think I’ll stick to something gentler, although of course they do say, never say never!

Glad there’s a thread about The Night Manager. This is absolutely not my sort of thing, prefer more light hearted programmes or gentle who ‘done it’s’ without any visual violence, but I am just drawn to this. But I’m finding it terrifying and my heart rate increases. Apart from the actual gory bits which I turn away from and cover my ears, it’s the underlying tension from the menace and threat of real evil that runs through it. Goodness, I want to know the outcome but don’t want to watch. Same with the first series - I’m certainly not bored, I like our hero and the loyalty and honour he stands for and no problem with him being 10 years older - just terrified. One more to go if I can stand it - am just watching weekly Sunday evenings. I’m tempted to give it a miss and just read up about how it ends after the last episode next Sun, but I guess I’ll likely be drawn to it again.

Both Hugh Laurie and Tom Hollander are really good actors in everything they’re in.
I loved Rev.

Did Tom refer to his cat as ‘Corky’?

Yes he did 😂Corky the cat.
Black humour as he killed Corky with his own hands in the past.

Wow simply can’t believe that the first series was 10 years ago - where does the time go? No wonder Tom and Olivia look so much older, Hugh doesn’t though. I read previously that he wasn’t going to be in this series so they kept that a secret. I have seen the first four episodes and I think I’m finally getting my head around the different characters!

DD 2 and I had never seen series 1 DD 1 had ten years ago but had forgotten it. All three of us have binge watched up until episode 4 of series 2 last night and were horrified when we realised we’d caught up and had to wait for the last two episodes, we have been gripped ! Not missing Tom Hollander never really liked him as a actor and I do dislike Ropers character he makes my skin crawl

I'm sorry Tom Hollander ( Corky ) isn't in series 2 . It's poorer without him !

Tom Hollander is great in everything, isn’t he.Re Hugh Laurie, I see that House is on Ch4 catchup so I think I’ll start watching it.

I’ve watched the first series three times - when it was first on, about 5 yrs ago and again just before this one started. There’s no comparison. Totally agree about Tom looking a bit worn! I haven’t seen ep 3 yet as I’m not drawn to it. Perhaps I should persevere…

MayBee70 Wed 21-Jan-26 00:25:19

I’ve never watched House but they said on Must Watch that some people still binge watch it on a regular basis.

Tom H not as desirable as Hugh Laurie!
That said series 2 is boring

I agree!

valdavi Tue 20-Jan-26 21:11:23

We're enjoying it, & I think Tom Hiddleston is still lovely (he's probably a skinny build & it notices more as his face ages).
I did think it was more far-fetched in terms of the heroics than series one, you have to suspend belief, but a nice complex plot to work out & the locations are beautiful.

Maremia Tue 20-Jan-26 19:14:35

Hoping to catch up with it soon.

Really don't understand what people see in it. Bored to death. One long yawn.!!!!!!!

Series two is more complicated but I am still enjoying it. I not only like looking at Tom H, I just love his voice too.
