I have just seen the Bake Off Prue Leith thread.

I have never watched Bake Off, Strictly, BGT, Sewing Bee, Traitors etc.

Am I the only one?

No, no, no. I don’t have anything like that. Besides I try to avoid Amazon like the plague.
On my remote there is a thing which says “home”. If I press it, it brings up all the past (and present) freeview programmes that I can stream, free of charge.

I’ve watched bake off occasionally but never traitors, big brother, love island, celebrity get me out of here, the stupidest knitting thingy, nor the pottery one.
Sewing bee is ok if you have to!
So many rubbish things!
No real entertainment!
TV is horrendous

It’s all what takes your fancy. I’ve watched one of Bake Off, and Sewing Bee and that was enough. I’ve never watched Traitors so I don’t know if I’d like it I used to enjoy Strictly and BGT but haven’t bothered with them recently.
On the other hand I’ve never watched Big Brother or I’m a celebrity get me out of here.

No you are not the only one! I have never watched any of these 'entertainment/lifestyle' offerings.....just doesn't interest me. Prefer documentaries, wildlife and a good series....eg. Waiting for the Out, Shetland etc. Also a big fan of foreign language film and series.

I don’t watch those programmes either. I do enjoy natural history programmes, travel, some documentaries and I find U has quite a lot of good drama on it. I liked the Count of Monticristo, and several series set during WW2.

Notgran - can't agree about the Repair Shop, I find it very interesting.

Nannan2 Thu 22-Jan-26 13:50:43

No youre not i dont either.Nor all the really rubbish like i'm a celebrity etc.

PinkCosmos Thu 22-Jan-26 12:40:48

I watched the celebrity traitors but hadn't watched it previously. Only because it was celebrities. I enjoyed it as I felt I 'knew' then already. I can't see the appeal when it is however many complete strangers.

I used to watch Bake Off and have watched one series of Strictly

I quite like Pottery Throwdown and Sewing Bee.

I found that if I watched the first episode I would end up watching the rest of the series. If I missed the first one or two, I won't bother to watch on catch up and would just miss them altogether.

I don't like any of the other reality show, or any of the soaps.

I've never seen them either (except for clips here and there) and I have zero interest in doing so. It seems to limit conversation these days because everyone else appears to be obsessed with them.

TheWeirdoAgain60 Thu 22-Jan-26 09:07:46

I've never had a TV and never will, but if I did, I wouldn't watch any of the above!

I haven't seen any of these programmes.
However, one set of friends decided that I needed greater exposure to such, to improve my understanding of certain cultural references.
I watched several episodes of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, which I found deeply unpleasant. However, this was overshadowed by their next choice, called Naked Attraction which was hideously beyond parody.
Goodness knows what pleasures await my next visit.

You are not alone I don’t watch any of those programmes either. Have no interest in them. When I meet with the family or friends they ask if I watch so-and -so and when I say no they say I must watch it.
No thanks.
I much prefer nature documentaries or doing a jigsaw.
Each to their own.

You took the words right out of my mouth!

Esmay Thu 22-Jan-26 08:48:55

I used to watch all except Traitors .
I got thoroughly bored with the hype .
I recall how very slim and fit I used to be without a TV !

GoodAfternoonTea Thu 22-Jan-26 08:48:34

I watch Bake Off and Game of Wool because those are my interests. Don't watch the others and they don't catch my interest.

I have never watched any of them, though I did watch Judge Rinder on Strictly via catch up. In fact, my television hasn’t been switched on in months. I do my viewing on iPad.

Gingster Thu 22-Jan-26 08:36:14

I’ve probably watched all of them over the years but they all become very ‘samey’ and predictable , so I drop out now . It all gets a bit boring with the same format each season.

I can’t imagine what people do watch if they watch no soaps and no reality shows They wouldn’t be my preferred choice but there’s little else if you haven’t got Netflix or sky etc

Very slim pickings BlueBelle, but it does mean you get extraordinarily excited if there's a new Agatha Christie or Digging for Britain!

keepcalmandcavachon Thu 22-Jan-26 08:25:31

I haven't seen any of them either and frequently have to 'sit out' whole parts of conversations 'till they move on! Never know who the contestants are on Richard Osman's House of Games either grin grin grin

grandMattie Thu 22-Jan-26 06:27:46

It’s one of those programmes like BBC catch-up. I’ve no idea what it’s really called. Sorry!😔

BlueBelle Thu 22-Jan-26 06:23:31

What’s a streaming thingy ?

grandMattie Thu 22-Jan-26 06:16:15

Oh and I only have freeview

grandMattie Thu 22-Jan-26 06:15:31

I watch very few reality shows and have never watched a soap opera.
I use the streaming thingy and my favourite at the moment is the series of Walter Presents in various foreign languages on C4 catch-up. I’ve watched French, Spanish. German, Polish and Argentinian series to date. They are great!

David49 Thu 22-Jan-26 06:00:08

We dont watch soaps or the ritual humiliation of the reality shows like Traitors, where contestants are deliberately selected so they will conflict. That severely restricts what is available and worth watching.
