I wonder what it was about him that gave you that idea Rocketstop. I always thought he came across as a real gentleman.

I concur with all of the comments, driving to work was never better!! Even my job was pretty good in those days!! How about a couple more reminiscences!, is that a word?? The lovely Ray Moore followed by Sarah Kennedy!! Wonderful starts to the day! Another station for listening if you want music is Smooth!! I was a proud TOG - my DD bought me a shopping bag with 'I am a TOG' written on it, and I used it until it fell to bits. The day Terry left his breakfast show I booked a day's annual leave, so that I could listen to the whole show (I had to be in work by 8.15) and sat at home in tears listening to his farewell speech. It typified him that he ended with "Thank you for being my friend" - not 'friends' - as he always made you feel as though he was speaking to you personally... I sobbed. 😢

How I never crashed the car laughing at Janet and John I don’t know! Terry Wogan was absolutely brilliant there’s never been anybody like him since. However even he couldn’t make me watch Eurovision absolute drivel!

I loved listening to Terry and I have all the Janet and John CDs.
I liked it on Friday ,when we went down to the allotment
with Terry Walton.Great radio!

My driving instructor in the early 80s was the image of Terry Wogan, all that was missing was the Irish accent!
If it is true that every person has a double in appearance he was a fine example

I met TW , previously I thought he might be a bit bumptious and full of himself. How wrong I was, he was really friendly, professional and a true gent.

I couldn't leave for work until I'd heard the Janet and John story for the day, in case I missed it getting into the car. I found it so hard when he left the BBC and then died. It was like a close personal friend had gone. We've got the CD of JandJ . Who can forget MickSturbes or HelenBach, or the image of John in his purple waistcoat with pink spangles, or the concluding line of many of the stories - Run John, run. Ah those were the days - to be sure

I used to arriven8n the school carpark while Janet and John was on. All around were teachers sitting laughing then engines off and a mad dash for morning briefing.

Like you Outcast52 we enjoy Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits radio as well as Simon Mayo, "Confessions' just before 6pm is very entertaining. Also recommend Michael Ball radio 2 on Sunday morning, he is always happy and uplifting.

I have never forgotten Terry saying he'd asked, " A small aperitif, Cilla?"

Whenever I heard Terry it was like he was sitting on the sofa just passing the time of day with some funny anecdotes.

I listened to Terry on my morning drive to work and loved his humour especially the Janet & John stories. Had to sit in the car sometimes longer to hear the end before I could walk down into work 😂

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto to all the above, I have many a time caught the eye of fellow drivers at the traffic lights as we giggled our way to work.

My mother's boyfriend used to drive me to work when I was 16. It started off in stony silence because he had usurped my stepfather by being the person my mother couldn't leave alone during their 8 year marriage. It caused deep resentment from me and I tried to ignore his presence as much as I could. He used to listen to Terry Wogan's morning show and I found it very funny. In the end, it thawed our stand off because we found a point of connection. I was so sad when Terry gave up his show and couldn't believe who they picked as his replacement.

If you can get Greatest Hits, you will find some of the previous Radio 2 presenters on there - Ken Bruce is still doing PopMaster at 10.30am every weekday and my favourites - Simon Mayo with producer Matt - doing Drivetime at 4pm. You do have to tolerate lengthy ad-breaks, unfortunately, which was never an issue with the Beeb. And I completely concur that no-one could ever replace Terry

He appeared at the Baths disco in Scunthorpe ( my home town ) as the DJ . We saw Hot Chocolate there too . It was usually the swimming baths but boarded over for the dance night .

And what about the marvellous Steve Wright, my faithful afternoon school run companion throughout the 1990s?

I've watched a number of his chat shows recently - the BBC have been 'throwing them up' occasionally.

I must just have spotted one and put it on 'Series Record' and I now get them automatically whenever they're broadcast.

I was in the audience for over 30 of his shows at the Radio Theatre in London, got there about 7am on a Sunday to guarantee entry, got to know loads of his fans, even managed to take an Ozzy friend who was visiting. Can honestly say some of the best entertainment ever, he was so great live

I was also at quite a few of Terry's Sunday morning live shows from the Radio Theatre.
Every one of them just fabulous, lovely memories.

There were many times I burst out laughing over Terry's comments while driving to work. One day I looked over and saw a couple in the car next to me - they were both laughing hard, too. I have no doubt we were listening to the same radio station.
