Has anybody watched this docu-drama on Channel 4 regarding the scandalous behaviour of the privatised water companies?
I knew our waters were in a terrible state but it is even worse than I thought. It is a national disgrace, firstly that this vital service was privatised and, secondly, that the so-called regulator was, to all intents and purposes, in cahoots with the companies they were meant to be regulating.
I so admired the two men who have spent years poring through documentation and using their expertise to analyse exactly why our rivers and seas are so polluted - then trying to alert the authorities to what amounts to corrupt practices. I felt so sorry for the people whose lives had been devastated by coming into contact with filthy water.
It was also stated at the end of the programme that Starmer had ruled that the bosses of these companies would no longer be able to receive bonuses; however it went on to say that a very substantial amount of money has been paid to the boss of one company, re-named a "retention fee".
