The Walsh Sisters on BBC.

I persevered after episode one ( encouraged to do so by a friend). I was pleased that I did and eventually binged it all. I did struggle with some of the dictation but it was easy to guess what was being said.
I liked the way that the sisters had such varied characters, despite ‘Mammy’s’ efforts.

What a boring programme and I could barely hear what they were saying most of the time.

I wanted to enjoy this but switched off after 20 minutes. Dull.

Well as I haven't read the books ,but have frequently visited Dublin and areas used for filming ,I enjoyed it as no preconceptions. Also having 3 DDs anything to do with sisters and the family dynamics fascinate me.However if Mammy Walsh is a much warmer character in the books I can see why the adaptation was frustrating. This one was an absolute shrew !

Marian Keyes didn’t write a book titled The Walsh Sisters

She wrote 5 (I think) books which featured one or more of the sisters own stories.

This series appears to be a mash up of all of the Walsh books, which were all entirely different.

I shall not be watching, I enjoyed the books and wish to preserve my memories.

I couldn’t work out what was happening.

Love reading Marian's books but the series was awful ,,, the mother was a nightmare and the threads of the stories were all mixed up ? Stopped watching after the first 2 ...

I loved the books especially read by Marian Keyes on Audible and was very disappointed with the TV adaptation. The actor who played Rachel was really good though. Some book adaptations suffer a lot despite fabulous actors. The characters chosen for the Strike series adaptations were great but the books were really chopped up. Have to say though, being totally inconsistent, I've just re-watched a version of Jane Eyre with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens on BBC which was absolutely steaming and I don't care that they took liberties a bit as it was amazing.

I haven’t read the books but watched a couple of episodes last night ( whilst waiting for the election result) even though it hadn’t had a good review on the Must Watch podcast. I really didn’t take to it at all and when reading a review it said that the character of the mother had been totally changed and that they’d omitted most of the warmth and humour that was in the books. I was wondering how people who had read the books felt about it.
