I used to watch Susan Calman travelling around the UK in her camper van, Helen. Watching it now is becoming challenging as I find her so annoying, constant hysterical shrieks of deafening laughter or cackles at nothing, the people she interviews sometimes almost recoil in surprise..i don't know if she has a hearing problem but she shouts and talks so loud I constantly turn her down. She is exhausting.

As far as most "celebs" are concerned I think the thread title is an appropriate tautology. 😂

Funny how different we see people I like Naga Munchetty I see a strong knowledgable woman who has had some bad health problems I used to really really dislike Carol Vordeman
until I realised she was such a Reform hater so now I like her !!!

I find Alan Carr very very annoying although he was much better in The Traitors I do not like Stephen Fry I don’t know why! Vanessa Feltz Yuk
for some completely unknown reason I don’t like Richard Osborne nor Alexander Armstrong can’t stand piers Morgan or Jeremy Clarkson …..misogynists
I do like Miriam.Margoles ( minus the farts) Claudia Winkleman and I don’t mind Davina at all
Can’t stand Jonathon Ross
There’s plenty more will come to me

All those defending Paul McCartney, have you met him and worked with him? I have.

I’d have thought being able to read music is pretty basic if you claim to be a musician. It’s not difficult, so why did he refuse to learn?

Having a lot of money is no indication of intelligence or knowledge. He thinks it is, though.

That Naga Munchetti woman..can't stand her.....Carol Vorderman...so loud...

that Naga Munchetty woman
Would you feel differently if you were aware that she constantly battles on behalf of women with not only endometriosis but all health problems involving women.

I agree with many of these names (not David Attenborough though as he definitely IS a National Treasure, imo). Miriam Margolyes I like too, minus the talk of taboo bodily functions. A name I’ll add to the list of annoying people is Sara Cox - the fake hilarity irritates me enormously. I think for me, I do consider that the people I find annoying are not necessarily “disliked” because I don’t actually know them, but they drive me bonkers and they seem to be ubiquitous. They talk too much with their hammed up accents and often the chatter is about nothing of consequence (on BBC Radio 2 for instance). Claudia Winkelman - get that blasted fringe cut, you look absolutely ridiculous. You have to tilt your head back to see anything! Yes, your hair is gorgeously black and impossibly shiny, but you don’t need that long fringe to add to the lushness.

Nor me. Irrespective of her battles on behalf of women, I intensely dislike her nasal speech delivery.

I don't like Alison Hammond either.

I honestly can’t stand that woman!

MissAdventure Sun 10-May-26 10:38:22

How about Noel Fielding?
Do people like him?
He makes me a bit unsettled for sone reason.

Kate1949 Sun 10-May-26 10:47:39

Anyone seen Cat Deeley on This Morning? Her false, over the top cackling is SO irritating.

Cardamom Sun 10-May-26 10:51:39

How about Noel Fielding?

I liked him when he was in the Mighty Boosh but something about him seems to have changed once he became more mainstream. An underlying creepiness I think.

MissAdventure Sun 10-May-26 10:52:08

I haven't, but i don't think I'm keen on her anyway
I'll have to have a look.

I wasn't a fan of Boosh.
I never really "got it".
I'm just a miserable old cow, i thuk. smile

Not at all; what's funny/humorous is very subjective; it's what makes us unique! I thought that Noel Fielding was a bit whacky, alternative, quirky in Mighty Boosh and it certainly seemed to suit his niche persona. But that "niche persona" just comes across as idiotic, try-hard and ridiculous in something as mainstream as GBBO.

MissAdventure Sun 10-May-26 11:40:59

Just realised i wrote "thuk".
Could have been worse, i guess. smile

My daughter loved Noel.

Oh dear, I hope that none of these celebrities goes on Gransnet. They wouldn't be very happy.

Kate1949 Sun 10-May-26 12:27:05

I'm sure they would give a monkeys about what a group of old folk think of them.

Kate1949 Sun 10-May-26 12:27:34

wouldn't

Cardamom Sun 10-May-26 12:31:01

Who cares Dottydots? No one, including celebrities, artistes, politicians or the man on the 49 bus, will be liked by everyone. Some will be liked more than others; some, as is evident from this thread, almost universally disliked. And that's ok because, as humans, we make a judgement call on pretty much everything and everyone we come across; sometimes known as "gut instinct"; it's there for a reason.

BridgetPark Sun 10-May-26 13:09:04

I am beginning to get exasperated by Anna Hough on Masterchef. Why does she do the over the top eye-roll every couple of minutes? She looks ridiculous and a bit manic. However I do like the programme and am beginning to warm to Grace Dent.
One of our local weather presenters is one of my husbands pet hates. She is in the Midlands, is a little overweight(no shame in that), but has an insipid grin and wears such clingy dresses, does not flatter her at all...

Cumbrianmale56 Sun 10-May-26 13:29:40

I really can't stand Alexander Armstrong. He comes across as someone who thinks he's more intelligent than everyone else. I did read on another forum about a couple who appeared on Pointless, who said he completely blanked the contestants when the cameras were off and they were told not to speak to him unless they were spoken to fitst. Sounds like someone with an ego problem to me.

dalrymple23 Sun 10-May-26 15:00:47

Agree with all of those C'mom. I will add on Alex Jones and Huw Edwards (even before he was convicted). I am so pleased that I no longer have a television. Yes, why do all those women have to screech and scream? I have also noticed that over the past 20 years or so, children no longer just laugh. They scream. No wonder adults find them so annoying.

MissAdventure Sun 10-May-26 15:03:08

My next door neighbour was cross about that last year.
She said as soon as the childrens legs started peddling, their mouths started screaming. grin

honeyrose Sun 10-May-26 15:38:07

Oh dear I must be such a misery. Mention was made of Noel Fielding - yes, aaaagh!! I hate the way he dresses and his hair and make-up. Looks odd and I find him highly annoying. I think he’s probably a really nice person though so not sure why I take against him. His gentle nature belies his strange looks - sorry I sound very judgemental but it’s probably irrational what irks us. People probably find me irritating! Also, Sophie Ellis Bextor annoys me with her “chewns” (tunes) and “fabulous sounds” on the radio. I saw her on Interior Design Masters once and I quite warmed to her then but I can’t listen to her on the radio. It is interesting why we take to some people (those we don’t even “know”) and not to others. There’s some psychology at play there.

MissAdventure Sun 10-May-26 16:39:18

Oh oh don't like Sophie Ellis whatsit either!
I used to love John Noakes, and the man Johnny Morris(?) who was on Animal Magic. smile

Why is Paul McCartney an ignoramus?

He could write a damn fine tune.
