I thought she had died years ago as I haven’t heard anything about her for ages.
I just never really liked what I read about her, mostly her own words, and truly can’t remember her acting.

Very much alive and present in the media !!

Not having been in the UK for several decades now and so not having access to British TV, but to radio, I have only become aware of her in the past 20 or so years as she is frequently on Just a minute. I also enjoy listening to the Rosebud podcast which featured her in November 2023. I enjoyed Have I Got News For You this week, which I can get on YouTube and I thought she held her own well. So many people of that age stop taking an interest in the outside world.

I found her very irritating on HIGNFY last night. I felt the others were just being polite and she was allowed to go on too long. I actually felt like switching off.

I have always found her irritating, not her political views but she’s very pushy on any views when being herself rather than her acting.A sort of ‘shut up, I’m here’ and sees everything in black and white.
As an actress she’s really good.

It is interesting how people interpret what they see and hear so differently.

Far from patronising Sheila, I was impressed that they were so sparky with her and did not patronise her.

She has compassion and a sense of community. If that makes her a lefty then that is fine. These are qualities that it would be good to see in people of any political persuasion but sadly every man/woman for him/her self seems to be the order if the day.

She has seen the misery that populist brings ... we need to heed her warning.

I haven't watched it yet, but as in the thread on Joan Collins, I am so pleased to see much older women ( and men) still strutting their stuff, whatever that might be.

It didn't record Friday as it was on BBC2, but I caught the repeat on Monday. I thought Sheila was wonderful. And I thought the others were in awe.
She's been acting on TV pretty much annually for the last 50 years!
I loved her in the Rag Trade, but she was brilliant in The BedSit Girl mid-60s

I love Sheila Hancock and think she has a wonderful presence about her.
Probably stems from remembering, as a small child, my mum laughing her head off at The Rag Trade, which Sheila was in. A happy memory for me. She looks amazing for 94!!

I’m with you Aveline, I thought they patronised her instead of challenging her very leftist views.

As an entertainer (very amusing she can be too) she does tend to bang on a bit reminding her audience of her lefty views. It did get a tad wearisome after paying good money to be given a party political broadcast although my companion (very left viewpoint too!) lapped it up and clapped enthusiastically many times …. 😁

I do. Plus the MC deferring to her old age too much.

I like her. She is good actress and her political views don't matter. She is doing well at 94.

I saw Sheila Hancock being interviewed by Jenni Murray years ago in a Manchester theatre. She was very entertaining but of a very leftish persuasion and so I can completely understand why her views would chime with some on here!

I missed the programme, but while I admire Sheila Hancock as an actress and personality I do not share her views about politics.
