Sad that Michael Landon died so young.

I think he had a problem with alcoholism.

Very sad, he seemed such a nice person.

Not trying to derail a thread about Little House on the Prairie, but I really enjoyed the Woman of Substance remake. I thought Lenny Rush was brilliant and Brenda Blethyn went up in my estimation. Just had to say that!
Now back to LHOTP...

Just saying earlier that Michael Landons daughter, plays Teeta in Yellowstone (cow girl).
She was also in ‘Animal kingdom’, another cracking show.,

I loved all the stories and also the TV version on Netflix.. They had more dancing and playing the fiddle and the children were older .. And the stories are not so Sugary Sweet as the Waltons ... that family were not normal at all ! All that Bible study and Holier Than Thou drove me mad !!!!

I know exactly what you mean. She was slightly irritating, but towards the end I really liked her.

'Anne with an E' was atrocious. It was an attempt to get as much woke material in as possible. Aunt Josephine a lesbian, Gilbert sailing to the West Indies (I think), and an extremely irritating Anne who cried and ran away every few minutes.

I loved the original 'Little House on the Prairie ' so I don't think I will watch the remake.

I nearly never bothered, but glad I watched it.
The little girl who played Laura Ingalls was a cracking little actress I thought.

I watched that but couldn’t stand the American actress trying to do a Princess Diana type English accent. I’ve never been so irritated by someone in a film or tv series. Having watched it the wrong way round ( ie 1923 before 1883) I tried to watch it again after watching 1883 but again gave up.

Have you watched the other with Helen mirren? 19 something or other. Now that was very good.

Watched both. American primeval was terrific. Love a good cowboy & Indian film/ drama.

I loved 1883 but not the one with Helen Mirren ( 1923?). Primevil was wonderful. I was dog sitting at my daughters so had access to lots of channels and binge watched it. I was on the edge of my seat at times. I’ve just told my son about The Little House on the Prairie because I read a good review of it and I think my granddaughter would enjoy it.

Just watched the first Little House on the Prairie, on Netflix.
It took me a little while to release "John Boy" wasn't in it, wrong series.
After watching it I don't remember seeing this series first time around. Think it might be a "dip in and out" series for me.

Finished 1883 last night.
I liked it but what a misery fest. 😫😫

1923 next.

Well I am watching 1883 and believe me it is nothing like Little House on Prairie ... its for Adults .. I love it ... its on Netflix ..

Thanks for the tip. I’m on episode 4 of 1883 and absolutely loving it.
Definitely for adults but it reminds me of Wagon Train, beloved of my teenage years in the sixties.
All it needs is Flint McCulloch! 😂😂

I have watched all the Taylor Sheridan series, 1883, 1923, Yellowstone. Now Marshals and the new one with Rip and Beth. All great shows. Some on Netflix and most on Paramount+.

I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books but the series on television years ago was just a soap opera, using little more than the family’s names and adding loads of fiction to what was a true account of their lives.
I expect the new version is the same.

I believe in keeping an open mind. If I didn’t I would have missed out on a lot of things.
I have enjoyed this remake and am looking forward to series 2.

The remake of 'A Woman of Substance' was atrocious. I watched the first episode and gave up. Made to allow for all of he woke agendas including a midget brother. WHAT??!!!!

Whatever could have led Brenda Blethyn to get involved with such dross?

P.S. I was probably totally spoiled as just a few months before I had watched the original series with Deborah Kerr, Liam Neeson and Jenny Seagrove - absolutely fabulous.

I appreciate you not liking the programme your prerogative but calling someone with dwarfism a midget is very offensive
and that’s not me being woke
