I do love the series. It’s just that I sit there saying ‘how do they know that’ all the time!

Although scientists have not actually found LUCA, our common ancestor, it is evident there must have been such a common ancestor as we humans share our DNA with all other living things on Earth, to a lesser or greater degree.

How do they know that these single cell ( or whatever they are) things developed into this or that millions of years ago? Maybe I’m just not concentrating properly. I mean, if there are no fossils of microbe type stuff how do they know?
