Richard Osman

Two of the best quiz show hosts were on A Question of Sport, which was always a favourite in our house - both David Coleman and Sue Barker were terrific at the job. I still miss it.

Allsorts

University Challenge, Magnus Magnusson, for light entertainment I think Terry Wogan.

I don’t think Magnus Magnusson ever chaired University Challenge. It was Mastermind.
The original UC question master was Bamber Gascoigne.

As I said grin

Wrong programme. Wrong presenter.

(But it did, just for a moment, make you appear rather intellectual!!)

I used to like Nicholas Parsons on Just A Minute

Yes, me too but it has been queried if Just a Minute is a game show? Not sure.

In fact, after checking, it's neither but 'a comedy panel game focusing on wit, wordplay and performance'.

What's my Line was a similar format with Eamonn Andrews.
Who remembers the saggar maker's bottom knocker?

Who knew!

Missed out ‘were cut out’ before the site might as well close down.

Bob Holness from Blockbusters. Anyone remember "can I have a P please Bob?" grin

None, stop sending these stupid questions. Hopefully you have none left.

Just stop reading them and responding.
Plenty of threads that I ignore because they are’ not my thing’.
If all the threads that rile someone or other the site might as well close down.

Terry Wogan on Blankety Blank. Les Dawson, Lily Savage and Bradley Walsh have also been good hosts who put their own mark on it. Bruce Forsythe was made for the Generation Game.

None of these are QUIZ shows

Just skip the topic if you find it boring. That’s what most of us do if we don’t want to contribute. I have an idea - why don’t you start a topic of interest yourself ?

Probably the best, but certainly the longest serving quiz show host, was Nicholas Parsons. He hosted Just a Minute on radio and then on TV for 52 years, until he died at age 96.

A Game Show is not a Quiz Show and to my knowledge Just a Minute is the former.

You object to the Games threads as well?

Bamber Gascoigne and Bob Holness ( I'll take a P please Bob )

Still say after “asking the questions”, Bamber Gascoigne 😁
Do think Amol Rajan is very good, too.

Bruce. We have Todd Woodbridge ( ex tennis player) on Tipping Point. He is really, really good and engages very well with all the contestants and draws their families and friends into the chat.

Sorry, when I read ‘quiz show’ I kind of mistook it for ‘game show’. ( although would loved to have seen Bruce Forsyth hosting Mastermind ) haha

Imagine his intro to Mastermind ‘nice to see you, to see you nice’ 🤣
