My favourite? North West Tonight presenters both Annabel Tiffin and Roger Johnson but especially
Roger Johnson, who always starts and finishes with “Thank you for your company.”

Look East, Suzie Fowler Watt. She’s been on there for years and comes across as a very competent and pleasant lady.

I also like Suzie Fowler Watts must admit I don’t watch much local news bulletins now do you know what the name was of the man that who was her co presenter was for years

He was a good interviewer

I can't stand Peter Levy, in the Hull area programme-he's so rude when interviewing people, he constantly interrupts them-wish one of them would tell him to shut up and listen! He's more "Alan Partridge" than Alan Partridge-!!-I think Steve Coogan must've based his character on Levy! Amy Garcia, on the other hand, is lovely-wish she fronted the Hull show

In the Anglia region we have Becky Jago and David Whiteley, with weather presenters Aisling Creevey and Chris Page. They are a great team who appear to get onvery well and make the programme a joy to watch

Absolutely love Becky and David on Anglia East, and over on BBC Look East we have David's wife Amelia Reynolds who is also brilliant! What an amazing 'newsy' couple they are, both so good. 😍

Asad Ahmed for London News. And all the other presenters.

DrWatson I have seen many regional programmes when on holiday over the years to know most of them are dreadful, amateurish and cringeable compared to Look North with Peter Levy. Look at it on Iplayer to see what I mean about it being the best regional news programme.

Unless you live in the same TV area as OP or any other posters, the names are entirely meaningless.

Onto two pages now, so others obviously think the subject interesting enough.

Rocketdog6 Sun 23-Aug-26 06:07:01

Does anybody remember Mark Puckle? A very long time ago.

DrWatson Sun 23-Aug-26 03:18:49

For Bukkie and "best in the country" - how do you know, do you watch them all? With umpteen regions, and ITV & BBC options, you must watch nothing else all day?!

For Alison & "never watch" - well, give them a try? They're not that long, you can record, watch later, and you'll pick up some interesting snippets.

@Mollygo

Can’t abide Sophie Law but Sally Taylor who sadly recently retired and Bruce Parker were irreplaceable.

The south seem to choose people who speak very nasally or have a peculiar voice where it sounds like they have a throat problem or are holding their breath! We can't watch them. It's almost worth changing areas for. 🤣

WithNobsOnIt Sat 22-Aug-26 17:51:36

Big thumb up for BBC North West News. It has won many awards. And it's coverage of regional events is second to none.

Roger Johnson and Annabel Tiffin.Very professional and not full of themselves.

Only thing l can criticise. Is that we recently seem to have a different news reader every night. Dozens of them and they are all women?

Surely they can't all work for the BBC? The Salford Quays BBC building must be chock a block with people.

Another one for Suzie Fowler Watt. Always very polite and pleasant. She is also patron of day services where my lot go.

Bazza Sat 22-Aug-26 16:43:52

Asad Ahmed, because he’s so immaculately dressed, we like to see what he’s wearing!

Ignore the grumpy comments. Like you said it was meant to be light hearted and we do travel around so still interesting even if it’s not your specific area.
Fortunately I’m also from the North West (we’re a friendly lot aren’t we!) and agree with your choices

Alison333 Sat 22-Aug-26 14:36:59

Am I alone in not watching local TV news? I tend to get all my news from the BBC website and newspapers.

Fatoldlady Sat 22-Aug-26 14:22:34

We have Peter Levy - I won't watch it because he is so rude to anyone he interviews!

Oh and for me, the excitement of learning at a BBC presenter is someone you taught all those years ago!

Yes if you mentioned Waseem Mirza, no for any of the others that I’m sure exist.
It doesn’t matter whether I’ve heard of them or not, I was just interested. Often, when we travel in the UK we watch the BBC news, which is how I heard of Waseem Mirza.
I’m sorry if anyone has felt obliged to answer. It was just a light hearted post.

Yes but I was just interested to know if others had favourite local presenters. DD who gets South Today likes Sophie Law and Jo Kent.

Names which mean nothing to me!
If I mentioned any of the newsreaders on Look East, would you have even heard of them?

Georgesgran Thu 20-Aug-26 14:35:36

We liked Colin Briggs on Look North (for the NE) based in Newcastle. He had a caravan on the same site as my friend and kindly opened a bottle of fizz when we were struggling with it. He’s retired now.

On Midlands Today we have the lovely Nick Owen who many will remember from breakfast TV with Anne Diamond. He has been very ill recently and seems to be working part time now but he is a star and still knows how to deliver a joke or a pun.
