Thrilled that series 3 has arrived but totally perplexed at the pronounciation of ‘clique’ in the latest episode by the entire cast, including the Brits. Whenever did this borrowed French word become ‘click’?!

I love Ted Lasso- but there are a lot of americanisms in it, despite most of the cast being Brits. I noticed the boot of a car being called “the trunk” by Keely in one of the new episodes. Im guessing its written more for the US / world market rather than just the UK.

'click' just sounds so uneducated

Kate54 Thu 27-Aug-26 22:08:08

In the USA, ‘click’ is correct and presumably the show’s makers were pandering to their home audience. Surprising, though, for a show generally keen on detail. And I wonder if Hannah W and her colleagues protested!

Ted Lasso lost its way in Season 3, and I’m afraid Season 4 has descended completely into caricature. And what’s with the wall-to-wall F-words? Still just about worth watching I suppose.

I have loved Ted Lasso but I am disappointed in Series 3 so far, its crass and although probably in keeping with todays society I felt it lost its way and charm. I hope it reverts as the previous series and episodes were a delight to watch.

I’m still watching. Too many swear words- unnecessary.

I have heard this word pronounced ‘click’ many times in the UK.

I rest my case!!

LadyGracie Fri 28-Aug-26 16:28:05

I’m still enjoying it.

What a fuss about the pronunciation of one word.

Perhaps TV shows will in future require a Pedants’ ’ Corner * rating.

Kate54 Fri 28-Aug-26 20:07:06

I wouldn’t call it a fuss! More a little debate about the way television programmes are made. A ‘wonder why..?’ if you will.

Much ado about very little

Jarring moments spoil programmes or make you think the worse of people who you think would know better.
Pedant and proud of it.

I've never seen it because I can't get whatever platform it's on Apple or whatever I've got Netflix and Amazon Prime but am not paying for anything else. It should be pronounced clique (cleek) not click. Anyone who doesn't is ignorant. Ignore how the Americans pronounce it, because they can't spell or pronounce things correctly.

I’m confused , the 3rd series aired several years ago .

Kate54 Fri 28-Aug-26 22:05:14

This is the new, much-hyped, series ( only on Apple)

Is this the one where he’s managing a women’s football team ?

Tenko Sat 29-Aug-26 12:12:06

I’ve just googled it . It’s season 4 and is on Apple +. And he’s managing a women’s team .

Didn't it always have wall-to-wall f-words?

I loved the first three series of Ted Lasso, but am very disappointed with this fourth series.
All the main characters just seem to have no depth to them, especially Rebecca, even her lovely Dutch pilot isn’t keeping me interested. One of my favourite episodes from series three was the one where she and him met, imo there was real chemistry between them on-screen and now there’s not.
None of the female footballers are interesting, and the behaviour of the twins is particular is just silly.
The swearing doesn’t bother me, it is part of Roy’s character. I really miss some of the male footballers, Jamie, Danny and Sam in particular were always really watchable, and the relationship that built up between Jamie and Roy was so endearing to watch.
I’ll stick with it to the end, but unless it improves dramatically, I hope they don’t make any more.
