Skomer island off the coast of Pembrokeshire, W Wales granjura. ~The children are amazing on the island. There are some strange questions from the adults though. Our warden was asked by one guy 'Excuse me, but which way is the sea?' the warden thought he was joking as this island is about 2 mile by 2 mile, he was not joking.

Flowers..........we too are RSPB volunteers from time to time. My pre-School history comes in very useful when we do events with young children. I am often impressed that youngsters know more than their parents!

I used to work with our local badger group - advising house owners with problems, with building applications, etc, but also with injured badger rescue, mainly road casualties at night.

Must say I'd love to see puffins - never ever seen one smile

Do you have more detail and dates?

Does anyone else on GN volunteer for wildife? My DDH and I have been doing this for about 10 years now. We normally volunteer for RSPB working as Residential Volunteer in various beautiful places. It is very satisfying and I, especially, have learned a lot. my DDH is a wildlife expert anyway as it was his profession. You don't particularly have to have a great knowledge of the species you are helping to protect and it helps to have enthusiasm and being good with people. Although some of the work involves conservation tasks too. The accommodation is free and you have one day in 7 off a week. We love it. We also work on Skomer Island off the coast of Pembrokeshire. Working with puffins and people is a wonderful way to spend a week or two. When the public have left the island it is peace and quiet except for the bird life.
