Evening all,

Just a quick line to ask for some good wishes on Thursday at 9.30am because.......

* I HAVE AN INTERVIEW !!!!*

As you were, ladies. grin

Anne58 Thu 28-Nov-13 22:08:08

Now there's a thought, Granny23 grin

Granny23 Thu 28-Nov-13 21:48:34

It will feel like a very long weekend. Will keep everything crossed for you. Have you put the combined force of Gransnet down to provide a reference?

Anne58 Thu 28-Nov-13 19:30:14

A huge thank you to you all! Your good wishes mean a lot.

They are interviewing some of the others tomorrow, so if they move as quickly as they did with their short list for 1st stage, I would think they will be contacting people early next week.

I must confess, I will be gutted (to use the vernacular) if I don't make it to round 2.

A quiet wish for you Phoenix.

merlotgran Thu 28-Nov-13 18:18:09

Onwards and upwards, Phoenix, Good luck with the next bit. wine

NfkDumpling Thu 28-Nov-13 18:02:08

Well, you couldn't have done better! They should have stopped the second interview by now and decided to give the job to you straight away.

Hopefully they won't keep you in suspense too long. wine

Galen Thu 28-Nov-13 17:56:22

Sounds as if you did fine.

Ana Thu 28-Nov-13 17:55:19

First hurdle over, phoenix, now the waiting...everything crossed!

Agus Thu 28-Nov-13 17:34:19

The Email was a great idea Phoenix and proves you are not fannying about. Everything still crossed for you.

mygrannycanfly Thu 28-Nov-13 17:31:48

Whispering Coo Phoenix you rock.

In a previous recent existence I recruited for very posh jobs and if any of the applicants had sent me an email like that I'd have been impressed. You thought of giving interview prepping lessons - could be a whole new career for you!

Wishing hard for you

thatbags Thu 28-Nov-13 17:25:11

Fingers crossed, phoenix! Hope, hope, hope smile

Icyalittle Thu 28-Nov-13 17:21:22

It sounds as if you played it just right Phoenix Everything crossed for you.

sunseeker Thu 28-Nov-13 16:20:25

You went along obviously well prepared (you'd be surprised at how many people don't), articulate, experienced and enthusiastic. I wouldn't worry about your answer to the salary question, it just gives them an idea of the salary range you are looking for. Very good idea to send the follow up email. Shows you know your way around a computer, are courteous and reminds them that you are keen.

If they have any sense they will grab the opportunity of hiring you with both hands!

annodomini Thu 28-Nov-13 16:17:02

phoenix, I have every confidence in you. I hope they could see just what a good fit you are for the job. How much longer do I have to keep my fingers crossed? It's quite difficult typing!

grannyactivist Thu 28-Nov-13 16:09:52

Sounds promising. smile
Were all twelve candidates interviewed today phoenix? (Seems a lot to interview in one day.) Did they say when interviews for 2nd stage will be held?
It sounds as if they know that you're serious about wanting the job and obviously you have appropriate experience and qualifications or you wouldn't have been given an interview.
Back to pacing the floor and waiting for the phone to ring I guess..........but we're all rooting for you. smile

Lona Thu 28-Nov-13 16:04:52

Sounds positive phoenix, let's hope they let you know fairly quickly!

Riverwalk Thu 28-Nov-13 15:41:52

As the boss is new to the company and the role is also new, age and experience might actually count for something!

Presumably they knew your age from your CV, or could work it out, prior to the interview?

moomin Thu 28-Nov-13 15:10:36

Sounds as if it went well, good luck Phoenix

kittylester Thu 28-Nov-13 15:04:40

And I want if for you phoenix Good luck and keep us posted!!

Charleygirl Thu 28-Nov-13 15:02:56

"Phoenix" I think that was a blinder sending the email when you arrived home. They should now realise that you want the job and did not just pop in on your way to the shops.

Fingers remain crossed!

So sorry for the delay, unfortunately I was NOT in the pub, just had to wait my turn to get on the PC as Mr P had quite a few things that he needed to try to sort!

Well, they were lovely people, I was in there for around 45 mins (was only supposed to be 30 mins). One minute I think it went brilliantly, the next I think I might have cocked it up! I took my press cuttings, which hopefully demonstrated that I'm ok with the press. The chap who will be the boss is also quite new to the company, the other interviewer was the nice HR person who I had already spoken to a couple of times.

She looked about 16. One slightly odd question from her "How would you feel about using the computer for research etc?" WHAT? My reply? "Is there any other way, apart from talking to people?"

I was slightly early, so had the chance to observe the person who had been in before me. Very young, seemed a bit shy, rather an ill advised skirt.

Anyway, they are interviewing 12 candidates, then short listing for second stage.

Apart from talking too much, I may have cocked up on the old salary expectations bit. I should have said that I expected to be paid the going rate for job type and responsibility, but instead I told them what had been offered for a job I didn't get and said that would be acceptable. blush

I also told them that if they offered me the job I would definitely take it. (No point fannying around!)

Then when I got home I sent her a quick email saying how good it was to meet them and thanking them for making the interview such a positive experience, also said that I had forgotten to mention that I am currently doing Bus & Ad level 2 as an on-line course to keep my brain active. Finished the email by saying that I would like to confirm my strong interest in the role and that I looked forward to hearing from her in due course.

It is a totally new role for the company, and it sounds really interesting, varied and right up my boulevard.

I WANT THIS JOB!!!!

kittylester Thu 28-Nov-13 13:50:49

Hope she's in the pub celebrating!! wine

Lona Thu 28-Nov-13 13:42:58

Fingers are still crossed!

glassortwo Thu 28-Nov-13 12:14:41

Me too grannya

I'm clock watching, wondering how phoenix got on. As I also live in Devon I often trawl through job sites hoping to spot a likely job for her, but it is very depressing. There are very few 'real' jobs and most of them are aimed at youngsters and offer very low pay. Higher paid skilled jobs are usually seeking very particular skills or experience - and again the pay is low in comparison to other areas of the country. Lots of jobs requiring generic skills are advertised as 'working from home', but when you look into pay and conditions you end up working for peanuts. One of my sons has a first class honours degree in Mathematics and is continuing to take professional practice exams - for each exam he passes he gets an extra £250pa, but although his prospects are very good he would currently earn more working for a local supermarket.
So, I do hope that phoenix gets this job.
