FED UP WITH USELESS AGENCIES!

Evening all.

Yet again an Agency has proved themselves to be utterly crap no practical help at all. One put my CV forward for a job that I could do and had previous experience in. Got an email saying "sorry, you were not successful" So I replied to ask why (esp. as I met the criteria) and asking for feedback as to why I hadn't even got an interview!

The reply I got? "Our clients don't always give us feedback" !! Um, duh, have you tried asking them?

Aaaanyway, a short while ago I decided to get a bit proactive, and emailed some local companies "on spec" One actually replied shock I had used the "contact us" section on their website, and offered to send them a CV, as I couldn't attach it.

A couple of days later, yes, they would be happy to take a look. So I sent it along with a begging letter an offer to go to see them if they were interested. A week went by with no contact, then an email inviting me to "pop in" for a "chat"

So, I slapped a colour on my hair, dug out the hair removal cream blush and sallied forth. Nice chap, long chat. Some mumbling about how they had been meaning to look at upping their game marketing wise, but hadn't actually planned to do anything in the short term, but he would have a think.

Another week goes by. I thought, sod it, I'll email again to see if he has actually had any further thoughts. Got a reply, can I come in for another "chat". Well, I thought I may as well, especially as he had offered me a biscuit with my coffee last time.

The upshot of these ramblings is............... I START NEXT MONDAY!!!!

with home made biscuits phoenix? Better not though as they may expect them all the time. Seriously, good luck though, it does sound quite a daunting job, but exciting too. You won't be able to 'hang' with us as much now that you have important stuff to do and we will miss you!

mrshat I think I might start by trying to wow them with tea and coffee! grin

janerowena Thu 03-Apr-14 11:19:36

The poor man. sad

Anne58 Thu 03-Apr-14 11:17:07

BUM! he's just come home. Wasn't able to carry on as it was essential that he did the 2 complete days.

Hopefully it will be rescheduled, I hope so rather than just a totally lost opportunity.

janerowena Thu 03-Apr-14 09:16:16

Oh No!!! Hopefully it will be something quick and easy. Fingers crossed. And a hug.

Thank you for the good wishes and vote of confidence!

Mr P has just phoned, he is at Gordano Services waiting for the AA sad

That's wonderful news, phoenix. You are so enterprising that I can't see how you won't be able to come up with an angle to market them from. I suspect a fair bit of travelling may be involved in the future. Good luck to Mr. P., too.

I bet they will wonder how they ever managed to sell a thing without you after a very short time. grin

DebnCreme Thu 03-Apr-14 08:34:03

Best wishes Mr Phoenix for the two busy days.

NfkDumpling Thu 03-Apr-14 08:21:45

Good Luck to Mr Phoenix for today and tomorrow. A two day sort of interview sounds daunting.

Anne58 Wed 02-Apr-14 17:30:12

Thank you! Himself has a sort of interview taking place tomorrow and Friday, so fingers crossed..............

Sounds as though it's the perfect challenge that you've been waiting for. Well done and good luck wine

roses I've worked with people like that, as long as they are holding a clipboard and looking purposeful they seem to get away with it!

No chance with this one though, I really do have to come up with things that not only work, but are seen to work!

rosesarered Tue 01-Apr-14 16:37:55

Don't worry if you find you don't really know what you're doing, my son tells me that most people who work in offices don't , including himself[and he has a team of people working for him]it's all just as I have always suspected; if you walk around with a bit of paper in your hand you needn't actually do anything grin.Maybe now it's just that you peer intently into the computer screen and look knowing. smile

11 out of 10 for perseverance. Many congrats and enjoy the new challenges. Sounds a great job

Not sure Charleygirl it's a whole new thing for me, it may well be that it all makes sense to some!

I think I will have a better idea once I've had a bit of a furtle round the competitor sites.

Charleygirl Tue 01-Apr-14 14:15:12

Thankfully it will be work that you are used to doing before the ironing and bedmaking job appeared temporarily.

These companies have money and I think it would be nice to be able to enlarge the squares on the web sites with maybe a small explanation as to what the machinery in each square is for or am I only interested because you are going to work there? Would people more au fait not need the info?

Anne58 Tue 01-Apr-14 13:49:33

Definitely no ironing!
