Why not? Hope you make a success of it, what type of business do you have in mind??

My brother took voluntary redundancy from R Royce when he was nearly 60. He had been a buyer but bought a truck and started his own haulage business. He loved those few years of independence and wished he had done it earlier. Go for it!

Not mad at all. I started a photography business from home when I was about 52. I had some advice from a free government scheme that was on the go at the time. An advisor came to my home and spent a whole afternoon going over my plans etc.; and she came back with a detailed report with lots of brilliant advice and contacts.

I haven't studied this link, but it might be useful: www.gov.uk/starting-up-a-business/start-with-an-idea

Lots of good luck with this venture!

Go for it there are plenty of people starting up in later life and making a good go of it -experience plus drive - a winning combination.

Not at all. Write yourself a good business plan and do your research. There's no substitute for experience !! Good Luck !

No, of course you aren't. You will have years of solidly based experience and can help new businesses understand how it is, not how it ought to be based on a recent degree and little experience that is what many advisors have.
