You cannot use your previous enhanced disclosure for another job/place it cannot be transferred.

Anyone can get an ordinary disclosure but it is more difficult to get a personal enhanced one as they are usually only able to be obtained by organisations/employers not individuals

I am involved in two separate volunteering roles and I have separate DBS certificates for each one, both funded by the charity.
Paediatric First Aid is a must when looking after babies and children and a course can be provided by an accredited First Aid course company - some are run as charities and others as a business but expect to pay whichever one you go to.
Simply google for course providers in your local area.

In Scotland, they have to be update every so many years or are invalid. I can't remember how often, it keeps changing!

Say you have one, your employer has the info.
Then you commit an offence.
Your current employer would know but if you'd used it to get a second job, they wouldn't.

It is partly do do with insurance. If you have one for your workplace and something happens, a claim can be made against your employer.
If for example you are involved in regulated work in a church and something happens, one cannot expect ones employer to be responsible for another organisation, i.e the Church.
Sorry, I am having trouble explaining this, I hope it makes sense.
I would expect that you also need some form of personal liability insurance.

In Scotland, you have one PVG no, but each body you work with is named separately.

Just in case I’m not the only one who didn’t know what DBS means, it’s Disclosure and Barring Service, for checking criminal records.

Not sure if it's the same but I know registered child minders need to be registered with the local authorities/ council. I know they child mind/ babysit for longer periods but I wonder if they might have any information. The other thing you could do is pop in to the local mother & baby groups or creche in the area ask if you can leave your information if anybody needs it.

If you apply for an Enhanced DBS check, you can register with the update service. This can be 'taken' with you and allows a potential employer to check, with your consent of course.

There's a company called Mini 1st aid who run courses specifically for parents, grandparents etc. I think they appeared on Dragon's Den a couple of years ago.

In Scotland, if you already have a PVG (DBS checked), that PVG must still be updated to account for new regulated work.

You will probably have to get DBS checked as well. People on our local FB group are always looking for babysitters.

I did my baby/infant 1st aid training with St John's Ambulance too.

Adult 1st aid I think I did with the Fire service...

Cannot help with regard agency babysitting, but look at your local St.John’s Ambulance for an accredited First Aid course.
