I now volunteer for 2 organisations and am absolutely loving it. I honestly wasn’t expecting the feel good factor and I am thrilled on what an impact it has made to my daily life.
I feel like I have a purpose once again and urge others who are a little afraid to do something to give it a try. You meet new people have conversations you wouldn’t have if sat at home, and get out of the house. It is lovely so go on people ignore your scarey vibes and go for it. You won’t look back. Post on here if you do it and let us know how you feel once you’ve taken that step.

I’ve been volunteering in a charity shop for 10 years.
I didn’t make that step I only went in there to see if they had a wire coat hanger.
I got into conversation with those working there. The manager ( who is now a close friend ) asked me if I would volunteer.
Four of us go out socially.
The shop has been there for 30 years so that means that a lot of our customers grew up with the shop.

I have always been a volunteer too. I think a lot of us do.
I used to help at my DC school, then for Oxfam for a short while, then RDA for 17 years which I loved but it was too physically taxing in the end so now I do a weekly shift in our community store and I'm on a rota with our development trust.
It is nice to be needed.

I have volunteered since I got married as I was a SAHM I get such out of it, but I really think I make a difference to the lives of some people.

I love it and have also made good friends.
