Ingredients

85g (3oz) caster sugar
85g (3oz) unsalted butter
225g (8oz) plain chocolate
1 tsp water
Large tin chestnut puree

Handy Hint

This is an excellent recipe for a dinner party as it can be prepared well before the day. If available, decorate with marrons glace

Method

1. Blend sugar and butter until soft
2. Melt chocolate with 1 tsp water
3. Mix all ingredients together
4. Place in plastic container and freeze
5. Two hours before serving remove from freezer and turn out. Serve with vanilla ice cream

This reminds me of another 80's recipe (which I never tried btw) where you open a pack of chocolate hobnobs and pour in strong coffee and a liqueur, seal the top with a clothes peg and put in the freezer then when set take it out and slice it! Wonder what its like!...........!

This recipe was handed down to me by my lovely nursing friend who sadly died when she was only 29 in 1981. That is why I called it Ursula's chocolate chestnut delight.
