Ingredients

1 loaf of bread.
1 1/2 cups (3/4 pint) milk
170g (6oz) sultanas
Butter
3 eggs
Sugar (amount should be judged as it is sprinkled and depends on how sweet you want it)
Cinnamon (about 1 tsp)
Orange zest
a magic kiss lol xx

Handy Hint

Cooking varies so keep checking periodically and enjoy. I find the family love this recipe and for healthy option use skimmed milk, dairy free spread. Brown bread does not work with this recipe it has to be white. If you gauge it right the top layer of bread (do not add the fruit on the top as it will burn) should be crispy.

Method

1. Trim the crusts off the bread and cut into 4 small rectangular pieces.
2. Spread the butter on each individual piece
then line a oven-proof dish layering the bread but scattering the sugar and sultanas (can use raisins etc) over each layer.
3. Build the layers up and then beat the eggs in the milk and pour over the pudding. Judge the milk mixture as you may need more or less. Add the zest and cinnamon (approx. a tablespoon of zest) - leave in the fridge a day or an hour before cooking. 4. Cook 180C for approximately 3/4 hour or until the top is browned and the mixture set. Just keep checking. Delicious with Cornish clotted cream or ice-cream.

has been passed down for generations and my boys love it still and are adults now. Can have it cold if any left overs or re-heat in microwave
