To not expect to disclose a full medical history just to buy a house

I'm helping my friend buy a retirement bungalow, long story, she's widowed, in her late 60s and just wants a smaller place with less to look after.

She's sold her house STC and is desperate to avoid two moves and wants to move straight into this. But the management company won't let her buy it until they are satisfied she's fit and healthy enough to live independently. Which means, in this case, they expect to be able to send a questionnaire to her doctor including all manner of personal questions.

AIBU to think this is really not on and just plain nosey. I could understand requesting GP confirmation that she's fit and healthy but this is over and above this. I'm fuming on her behalf. angry

Management company? Is she wanting to go to a warden controlled retirement place? If so, I can understand them wanting to make sure they don't have to look after her 24/7. If not, and it is just any old purchase, then I don't see why a mangement company would be involved.
