The shops have been full of school uniform since BEFORE the schools even broke up for summer. And now I have seen one that is stocking Christmas cards. I'm expecting Easter eggs by October. The world has gone mad.

YES

Notsogrand Thu 23-Aug-12 11:45:56

I think the unspoken 'rule' northern, is not to mention it until at least half way through Strictly! grin
Unless you're very brave grin grin

Everyone is expected to live their lives in advance these days. No sooner will Christmas be over – or maybe even before it is – we'll be inundated with advertisements offering summer holidays. Perhaps next year, the advertising for Christmas 2014 will start in August 2013!

Anagram Thu 23-Aug-12 11:47:01

An earlier C thread died a death through lack of interest...grin

NfkDumpling Thu 23-Aug-12 13:15:09

Since I bought this year's Christmas cards in the January sales I'm not saying a word!

glammanana Thu 23-Aug-12 13:25:35

anagram DD presented me with the menu for Christmas Lunch at our local hostelery where I organise a day out for the residents here in our apartment complex and when I rang up to enquire what date they where starting there was only a choice of 6 dates available I was shocked so have had to make the decission before I could speak to the neighbours .

jeni Thu 23-Aug-12 13:37:03

Notsogrand Thu 23-Aug-12 13:45:50

glassortwo Thu 23-Aug-12 13:50:49

Nelliemoser Thu 23-Aug-12 14:21:29

Yes you are being unreasonable! shock wink
Christmas should not be mentioned until at least late October! Unless its arranging work Christmas do's) which I never now attend being retired.

Greatnan Thu 23-Aug-12 14:38:24

I am about to book my flight to Manchester for about 20th December - it gets very busy about then and prices go up! I will be booking my flight to NZ in September for my trip in February!

Notsogrand Thu 23-Aug-12 14:46:02

I bought up half of Julian Graves when it was closing glass so have enough dried fruit and nuts for England! grin

Note to self...add brandy to shopping list......

.......but don't let on.

westendgirl Thu 23-Aug-12 15:11:15

Did you complain to the store?
Does anyone else find it depressing to see rack upon rack of Winter clothes when the sun is shining and the temperatures are high , and all you really wanted was another t-shirt or a pair of linen trousers Perhaps that is why the stores are doing so badly. They don't stock what we want, when we want it. !

ninathenana Thu 23-Aug-12 15:54:38

I too bought cards and wrapping paper in this years January sales. As I have done for several years.

SSSHHH, I also ordered my 1st pressie about an hour ago too blush in my defence it was a half price bargain.

Freda47 Thu 23-Aug-12 15:57:53

My "Grannie's special" Christmas cake was made yesterday - today it was turned upside down and soaked in brandy... I'll keep on with the brandy now until it's ready to stagger out of the tin by itself at Christmas... so long as I can keep it hidden from DH!

vampirequeen Thu 23-Aug-12 16:45:00

I've already started buying.....sorry. I have an anxiety condition if that's any excuse blush. I have to be organised or the panic just takes over.

Sook Thu 23-Aug-12 16:58:58

I hate the Season to be Jolly. Bah Humbug! I would much rather hibernate from October and wake up in time for Easter which I do enjoy.

Nosila Sat 25-Aug-12 19:47:04

Almost time to put the sprouts on!

Notsogrand Sat 25-Aug-12 19:49:41

Mine are topped & tailed already Nosila grin

Anagram Sat 25-Aug-12 19:49:56

nosila! Did you deliberately drag this thread back from where it had been quite happily simmering on the back boiler? grin

annodomini Sat 25-Aug-12 20:02:54

Fingers in ears. Boycotting this thread until after Bonfire night!

jeni Sat 25-Aug-12 20:17:02

I shall have to start think about what clothes I need for the cruise!

Notsogrand Sat 25-Aug-12 21:19:20

Whilst we're not discussing you know what......I've kept last year's amaryllis bulb going in the same pot & with the odd dribble of water. It now has two fresh leaves so it will be interesting to see if it flowers again.

Nosila Sat 25-Aug-12 21:58:15

Notso - well done wink Anagram - yes! grin
