I was expecting a delivery from amazon. As most of you know I work. They sent me an email saying there was no one to sign the card. There was no card through the door. They will not deliver without a signature although my doorstep is safe. My neighbour will not take deliveries for me.
It's only a bottle of ink for heavens sake!
Grrrrangry

I'm surprised, Galen. I've often had goods from Amazon via Royal Mail (not signed-for) and have never had any problems with deliveries.

Numpties, Galen!

My daughter lives by a bridge over the river, which is closed for rebuilding for five months, so she has a twenty mile round detour trip to the delivery office if they leave a card. Last Friday, she drove off to get a parcel from them, and returned home an hour later to find another Royal Mail card saying she was out and there would be a parcel at the delivery office! It it had been Next, they'd have dropped it in her bin and sailed off without a care! She was fuming!

one of their suppliers? We don't have any problems either. We either have things through the door, by the door or behind the garden bin and a card through the door. I'm surprised too. Was it an 'actual' Amazon product or one from

Daughter was in all day expecting a Yodel parcel (a mobile phone)....on checking the website late in the day there was a comment saying they had been unable to deliver as no one was home...SHE WAS IN!
To add insult to injury after long costly phone calls they (Virgin) said they would organise another delivery in 5 days time. She went to work next day and booked a day off to be in but got home to find it had been delivered to her next door neighbour whilst she was out at work, for some reason they did not try that the previous day. Defies any logic especially as she lives in a very straightforward typical housing estate. We, on the other hand, live in the middle of nowhere and rarely have any problems at all.

DPD are the delivery firm. I always have problems with them none of the others.

Soooo annoying.
I had to play detective recently trying to find a missing parcel. I was in the day they said they'd delivered. Long complicated story. I understand your frustration.

I've had stuff from DPD and they always email and text me to let me know when a delivery will take place.

Galen Tue 30-Jul-13 22:11:41

Yes! But I'm not in! Things have to be left on my (secluded) doorstep. They also say,' if you designate a safe place, you must leave the signed card!'

THERE WAS NO CARD!

I've have parcels dropped over the back gate, left behind wheelie bins and one one occasion in the wheelie bin. Luckily my lovely neighbours are usually in and willing to take deliveries.
But today took the biscuit. I heard the letter box go, the dogs started barking, and I spotted through the window a man in a white van just about to pull away. I dashed out and hammered on his door.
'I've left a note as you weren't in' said he
'What do you think I am? An apparition?' Invisible? You didn't even ring the door bell or the dogs would have heard you.'
'Well there was no car in the drive' he stammered 'so I just put a note through your letterbox saying I'd missed you'
What an idiot!

Yodel are appalling
They said they had tried to deliver a parcel THREE times,as it was being delivered to work and we are open 7-7, def lying. No card, no nothing
I complained so much to Amazon they must have been sick to the back teeth of me. Eventually got the parcel and have never seen such a battered about one, ever!

I had the same experience as Galen on Monday. Tracking website said that DPD had tried to deliver a book from Amazon but there was nobody here to sign for it.

RUBBISH. I was here all day. I finally got it at 7pm the following evening. Amazon have given me a free month of Amazon Prime but I will cancel it when it's due for renewal.

I have had exactly the opposite experience with Yodel.
I had a delivery from Estee Lauder which came within 5 days . The girl rang my doorbell , and delivered parcel .

Good service !!

Wot, you lot are not sitting behind your front doors, knitting, waiting for the delivery?

I ordered shoes from Hotter. They were apparently delivered, dumped behind a wheelie bin and I only discovered this days later when I asked about non delivery of the parcel. You can imagine the state of the parcel as it had been there for around 4 days and it had been raining heavily. Luckily the shoes were okay.

I specify a place for couriers (here it's normally Hermes) to leave parcels and almost without exception they get it right.

I ordered a new freezer on-line yesterday as my old garage freezer had gone haywire and despite all our efforts refused to settle down.

Ordered new one 2.30pm Thursday 22 August
Delivered 10.30am Friday 23 August

Had both 'phone calls and emails giving a 4 hour delivery slot (7am to 11am) then a "15 minutes away telephone call".
Charming delivery men unpacked new freezer and took away the packaging and the old freezer.

Very impressed! smile

Gaga I think you should name the wonderfully efficient company and courier!

Deedaa Fri 23-Aug-13 16:19:00

Sounds like John Lewis to me - they are very good about unpacking and removing packaging.

I was round at my daughter's baby sitting one day when the postman came with a parcel. When he saw me he said "Oh it's you! I've got a parcel for your son in the van, shall I give it to you now?" There are advantages to having a unique surname smile

The online company was ao.com and the delivery was by Logisitics. Recommend them for price as well as service.
