Suffragettes

I think it irritated me that Meryl Streep played Mrs Pankhurst cause I kept thinking that she was doing her 'Margaret Thatcher voice'. And the 'racehorses' looked very fat.

I was moved by Maud's rage about what had happened to her (avoiding spoilers here) and what was happening to another girl at the laundry. That, I think, is very realistic.

I think it should be compulsory viewing in schools, just to get kids interested so they find out more. The film only just scratched the surface and I think it could have been two, maybe even three films.

It wasn't a documentary, it was a good story based on fact, and as such I enjoyed it very much, apart from a niggle at the end when Maud was reading by the light of one candle - which was below the book so no light was shining on the page!

My Gran was a suffragist and Grandad a staunch supporter, so I learnt the history and the difference between suffragettes and gists at an early age. I would never dare not vote!
