I recall being horrified by an admittedly very young – and, in my opinion – massively ignorant on a number of levels – male librarian leading the little children's library time for the first time. They were singing The Wheels on the Bus – everyone's great favourite – but he was clearly stuck about the grannies on the bus. In the version I know, the grannies on bus go knit, knit, knit – a bit of a stereotype, but knitting is quite trendy these days and, more to the point (pun not intended) the actions are easy. So he came up with the grannies on the bus all smell of pee. I will leave you to think about the ramifications of this absurdity.

Lodge your complaint with the Advertising Standards Agency by clicking here
I thought it was disrespectful towards older women and I don't want to be portrayed in this way so will certainly be complaining.
It was the Tena 2020 Ageless advert by the way.

When I switched over I thought it was an x-rated channel so quickly switched to my film channel.
How awful is that advert, what I saw of it ? Why do they portray women in this way ?

Hetty58 Tue 10-Mar-20 20:50:45

They are never going to convince me that peeing yourself is normal!

tanith Tue 10-Mar-20 20:16:00

Very cringe worthy ?

Poppyred Tue 10-Mar-20 20:09:45

Saw it last night ...made me cringe. They wouldn’t depict men rolling about on a bed having oops moments would they??

Have you seen the new Always advert of elderly women in various poses talking about ageing and those little moments we are to expect as part of being a woman. All very natural according to Always with the ladies happily giggling and rolling around. Do women have to be paraded for advertising? There is such a thing as Tena men but do we see men advertising for these. No of course not. At least Always have been forced to add in very small print to seek medical help. They only did this because they were inundated with complaints I assume from the Health watchdog.
