When on holiday do you read novels ? Or short stories as I tend to do , have got a fabulous "Collete" , never read before .
I find with "Sippin and Dippin" not a lot of time to GET into a story .

Novels - mainly light reading like detective stories. When I first got the Kindle I took it on holiday to France loaded with nine books, all of which I read in the course of ten days and it didn't interfere with other activities. You can hold a Kindle in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. grin

Yes I like to read novels on holiday. Last summer I took 4 with me but also read my sister's and then borrowed from the bookcase in the villa, I must have read seven or eight books in two weeks.

I am chuffed to bits , I was down town this afternoon and found a book called

Midnight in the Garden of good and Evil .

I have been searching for this for about 6 months , and the the really good bit it only cost me £1.75 from a charity shop . Result or what ?

This will definately going to Mauritius

I am always amused at these articles in the worthies before the summer hols when the great and the good say how they are going to polish off Midnight's Children/War and Peace/ A la recherche du temps perdu and the entire collected novels of Zola, Balzc and Goethe. When in actuality they are going to start a Jilly Cooper, 50 Sheds and maybe a murder but not finish any of them!!

Balzac duh!

Ariadne Mon 28-Jan-13 20:34:29

Haven't read Balzac since university, and that wasn't yesterday!

One of the best things about leaving school was to know that I need never do hockey organised sport again unless I wanted to and of leaving university was that I need never read Balzac/Proust/Goethe/Mann/and all of the rest of them again in the original - unless I wanted to smile

Ariadne, I haven't read Balzac since the sixth form and that was note even the day before yesterday. Gracesmum, ditto for Virgil... Homer, etc etc, at least not in the original and I certainly wouldn't be able to do that now. Oh and Beowulf...grin

gracesmum Mon 28-Jan-13 20:52:40

Oh I like a bit of Beowulf or the Nibelungen at bedtime, don't you? had trouble getting it on my Kindle though grin
