Does anyone else get Junk mail like this

Yeah - just in time for Christmas - just had a letter from HMRC - I am the lucky recipient of a tax rebate and all I have to do is click on the attached link. I think not!!

The amount of the rebate is the same as in last years scam letter - the only difference is they seemed to have improved their spelling.

These have been around for years, now in email format but I remember them going around in offices in London. It always seems to be from someone in West Africa, it must be really tricky if you are a genuine business person from that region; I was told by a friend who worked in a bank in London that they just refused to open bank accounts for people from West Africa as it was so difficult to sort out the genuine from the fake. i dont know whether this was true or urban myth, but if the bank was given a letter like the one sent to newist it surely wouldn't be toooooo difficult to decide, but then again......

I had one from Nigeria - their friend was marooned on the International Space Station, having stowed away!

I have had ones from Nigerian Princesses promising to share their wealth with me, all I have to do is send my bank details.

The small Christian group I am a part of has a website containing my contact details, so yes, I have received lots of these emails and on occasions I even get an actual letter. I sometimes read them, but mostly they go straight into my 'junk' file and are deleted without even being opened.

I've had a few from 'friends' marooned penniless in unlikely places, wanting me to send them money to get them home.

I think why I get so many religious types of spam emails is because my email address contains 1 word which can be misunderstood by spammers into thinking I am involved in some kind of religious organisation

Just bin them,if I don't recognise sender I never open e mails..
Maybe I have missed "winning"large sums from competitions I have not entered lol?

If you are really trying to put together a successful scam you should at least try to make it sound remotely convincing.

The only similar offer I have ever had was from Banki Moon wanting to give me lots of dollars. I figured that THE Ban Ki-Moon was unlikely to know me and would also know how to spell his own name.

Oh yes - for a long time now there has been this subset of the Nigerian bait-and-switch scam, with the sender hoping that the intended victim will be impressed by the obvious piety of the poor woman... bin it!

Well I wonder how GN will share the money out between us all can't wait for my share.

I've never had anything like this. Perhaps I'm not worthy enough to be chosen.

I get lots of these religious spams, too many to count, this is just the latest. The monetary amounts are always massive.

I have not seen that particular one before. Obviously her conversion to Christianity does not stop her from trying to scam people.
