Attn: Beloved,
Good morning,

Greetings in the name of humanity, I am Mrs. Deborah Calvert Herman a
citizen of Australia but presently in the Malaysia working for the federal
government, I am 50 years old, I am now a new Christian but from all
indication, my conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite convert,
suffering from long time cancer of the heart, from obvious that I wont live
more than 1 year, according to my doctors, this is because the cancer stage
has gotten to a very bad stage.

My late husband died last five years ago, and during the period of our
marriage we couldn't produce any child. My late husband was very wealthy and
after his death, I inherited all his business and wealth.

The doctors has advised me that I may not live for more than 1 year, so I
now decided to divide the part of this wealth to contribute to the
development of the church in Africa, America Asia, and Europe.

I selected you after visiting the website and I prayed over it. I am willing
to donate the sum of $25,000.000.00u.usd (twenty five million United States
dollars) to the less privileged.

Please I want you to note that this fund is lying in a security company in
Malaysia. Once i hear from you, I will forward to you all the information
you will use to get fund released from the security company and to be
transferred to your account.

I honestly pray that this money when transferred to your account will be
used for the said purpose, because I have come to find out that wealth
acquisition without humility, all is vanity.

Please provide me with the following information so I can forward it to a
church attorney who used to work at times for my late husband's lawyer.

He is diligent and a Christian so I am confident he is going to handle the
transaction with you and lead, advice you on how to secure the funds in your
favor.

shock Please say you didn't reply to it?!

Lapwing Wed 26-Nov-14 14:27:50

I have not seen that particular one before. Obviously her conversion to Christianity does not stop her from trying to scam people. wink

newist Wed 26-Nov-14 14:33:01

I get lots of these religious spams, too many to count, this is just the latest. The monetary amounts are always massive.
Thanks for your concern roses, No, surely nobody would fall for it smile

hildajenniJ Wed 26-Nov-14 14:43:34

I've never had anything like this. Perhaps I'm not worthy enough to be chosen. grin

tanith Wed 26-Nov-14 15:07:38

Well I wonder how GN will share the money out between us all grin can't wait for my share.

feetlebaum Wed 26-Nov-14 15:31:29

Oh yes - for a long time now there has been this subset of the Nigerian bait-and-switch scam, with the sender hoping that the intended victim will be impressed by the obvious piety of the poor woman... bin it!

soontobe Wed 26-Nov-14 15:36:53

No, nothing like it at all.

Charleygirl Wed 26-Nov-14 15:55:34

Thankfully not

Brendawymms Wed 26-Nov-14 16:05:06

If people put as much effort into honest toil they would get richer, both financially and emotionally, than producting this rubbish.

I do not mean you dear GN'ers but the author of the letter.

eGJ Wed 26-Nov-14 16:16:03

Haven't had one since we moved house; the scores that arrived went straight into the round filing cabinet in the corner grin

rockgran Wed 26-Nov-14 16:29:23

Sounds totally genuine to me! hmm

annsixty Wed 26-Nov-14 16:38:10

Not in the post but many many e-mails from all over the world,so temptinggrin

tiggypiro Wed 26-Nov-14 16:47:18

The only similar offer I have ever had was from Banki Moon wanting to give me lots of dollars. I figured that THE Ban Ki-Moon was unlikely to know me and would also know how to spell his own name.

Nelliemoser Wed 26-Nov-14 23:01:04

If you are really trying to put together a successful scam you should at least try to make it sound remotely convincing.

vampirequeen Thu 27-Nov-14 14:03:45

I love this one. The grammar is brilliant lol.

NfkDumpling Thu 27-Nov-14 16:54:04

Not anything like it in the post - but I have had an interesting one from an African prince.

NfkDumpling Thu 27-Nov-14 16:54:40

Email that is.

Hammycmt Thu 27-Nov-14 17:40:17

Just bin them,if I don't recognise sender I never open e mails..
Maybe I have missed "winning"large sums from competitions I have not entered lol?

newist Thu 27-Nov-14 17:56:03

I think why I get so many religious types of spam emails is because my email address contains 1 word which can be misunderstood by spammers into thinking I am involved in some kind of religious organisation

annodomini Thu 27-Nov-14 18:01:11

I've had a few from 'friends' marooned penniless in unlikely places, wanting me to send them money to get them home.

grannyactivist Thu 27-Nov-14 18:03:57

The small Christian group I am a part of has a website containing my contact details, so yes, I have received lots of these emails and on occasions I even get an actual letter. I sometimes read them, but mostly they go straight into my 'junk' file and are deleted without even being opened.

harrigran Thu 27-Nov-14 18:32:10

I have had ones from Nigerian Princesses promising to share their wealth with me, all I have to do is send my bank details.

AlieOxon Thu 27-Nov-14 18:44:59

I had one from Nigeria - their friend was marooned on the International Space Station, having stowed away!
