Just back from the V&A to see the exhibit bit ion 'So you want a revolution'. What a memory jogger. Music, visuals, books, clothes etc. I retreated into my teens again.
Brilliant. Go if you can.

But oh dear. What happened to us? I could feel myself wanting to dance but all the other oldies like me were quite static. sad

They do really good stuff at the V&A. I always have a great deal of problem trying to stay still to music. The last one was at RHA and I could have jumped up and down but others seemed totally unmoved. Peculiar. Them I mean never me I'm totally normal and sane in every way.grin

They were dancing inside their heads.smile

I wouldn't dream of dancing in the V&A! shock

I know what you mean a few weeks back I went to a Queen tribute band at the local theatre the audience were mixed ages but a lot of older folks we were all standing dancing by our seats Even my 80 year old companion who is very into opera was out her seat pumping the air ....lovely

I went to a Jane McDonald concert a couple of weeks back. The old lady sitting next to my daughter didn't want to get up and dance but my daughter wasn't having any of it, she practically dragged her to her feet.
When the show was over she couldn't thank my daughter enough for 'forcing' her to dance.

Well, my DH is 70 and I am 67 and we were up dancing (as was everyone else) at the Sunny Afternoon musical a couple of weeks ago smile

At a concert or musical, fine! An exhibition isn't quite the same thing though.

Oh it's even better, because not expected I d have loved it a bit of spontaneity blooming old British stiff upper lip needs a bit of a lift I loved all the flash choirs and musicians that popped up here there and everywhere My daughters choir did one at the city library a few years back it was fantastic

One thing I looked forward to when getting older was not caring what people think! My DGC are the key though. I sing and dance with them at the drop of a hat! Street performers and buskers beware. Dancing in the street takes on a whole new meaning. The DGC are still young though and may find Dancing Nan more embarrassing as they age. sad

Ana the exhibition at the V&A wasn't your normal museum exhibition. It was interactive with a 60s soundscape playing continuously into our earphones, psychedelic lighting on the walls and ceiling, terminating in a huge surround film of Woodstock. I couldn't help a few moves which were curtailed by embarrassed looks from DS and DIL. I felt I was back in my teens again.....until I came face to face with myself in a full length mirror. ?
I found it a weird experience, finding my youth in a museum.

I am obviously way behind the times, I didn't know they put on things like that - glad you enjoyed it, anyway! smile

Katyk DH and I danced to
Sunny Afternoon.
It is a real feel good musical.

On New Year's Eve a couple of years ago, my Mum got up and danced - she's 95.

Is the V&A exhibition still on - it sounds good?

Judthepud2 Wed 05-Oct-16 23:31:43

On until the end of February Eloethan. If you enjoyed the 60s the first time round, you should enjoy this.

Eloethan Wed 05-Oct-16 23:40:19

Thanks Jud. I did enjoy the 60's but, for me at least, it wasn't anywhere near as "swinging" as the media would have us believe.

I know it isn't dancing exactly, but yes we should do what we want to even if considered too old. We have Family here for a few days and we took 3 yr old DGD to the swings. I HAD to have a go too. I was on the big girls swings like a flash, went on the see saw, the slide , and there was a zip wire there too ( Not too high up), never been on one of those before it was GREAT. Feel a bit stiff now grin
